Good afternoon 'spoon'in quezon city
I'm kit in las pinas.
I have done a small workshop for you, which I will post tomorrow at about 4:25 local time.
Meantime -
Portrait; Lighting is critical. Avoid flash and use natural light where possible. Focus is more than critical. This shot is very 'soft' and, especially with children, they don't need a soft-focus to benefit them. We need those eyes to pop at us, showing their liquidity. MUST be sharp.
Composition. Ask about Rule of Thirds if you don't already know.
Examples - surf the gallery for other examples of this type. Read the comments.
Presentation. While this may well be how you took it, the brain keeps wanting to see it 'right side up' so rotate it?
I'll show you tomorrow. I'm here right now if you wish to chat.
HI Rodney.... Such a BEAUTIFUL baby... She is an ANGEL... :). She has such pretty eyes... :D... A very beautiful photo. I will have a workshop done for U... Hmmm... Can U send me the original - 'Larger Version' to my mail id - himajyothi@rediffmail.com so that I can give U the best? A very good shot. A balance of light is required. I will just write some tips to U tomorrow on 'Portrait Photography'... Okai... So, take care... Would love to See more of the ANGELS' portraits in future... What did U say her name is??? :D
Loads of Love,
Hima.
* I will not leave any points on this one dont mind as it requires a lot of modifications.
What a lovley girl you have Rodeny. I woudl love to make a work shop for you. I will do so when i get home today, a bit later in the evening. I see you ahve been given some good pointers in the earlier critiques. No need for me to repeat what they say so i will only add my two scents to it. On my screen thsi photo looks a bit dark. I say on my screen cause i know it can vary a lot. I will have a second look when i hame home as i know that screen is a lot better then the one i am at now. However, as mentioned earlier, light is crucial. Natrual light may be the preffered ligh but never be afraid to use a flash from time to time. A flash may have a few different bennefits. It will increase the cath lights in the eyes and even the light over the whole area. It is how you use the flash that makes the shot. Wheni use the in build flash i often cover it with something (most often i put my hand in front of it)to soften the light some. I do however preffer my external flash which i can direct a bit in order to avoid burn out.
Also, a big welcome to TL Rodeny. I hope you will enjoy spending time with us all.
