Congratulation Sochi for the Winter Olympic 2014
extract from my diary (15-30th Aug. 1981):
Saturday 15.Aug. 1981: after a 26 hour from Frankfurt via Kiew we arrived at the airport of Adler near Sochi.
Sotschi is a town about a length of 145km along the coast with a lot of hospitals and clinic.
Visit of the Mount Achun, 663m, beautiful view along the coast line.
Strolling in the Park of Life, where Juri Gagarin has plant a Mangolia tree
Helicopter flight to the tea farms near Dragony, drinking tea from a Samuwar, eating Ananas-cucumber Jam.
Boat trip to Suchumi (today Georgia ) visting a monkey zoo.
Supermarkets like a mall : one row of about 10m meal, one row sugar, one row preserves, one row water bottles, ... no fresh fruit, no fresh meat, no fresh fish, ... today only fresh green salad, tomorrow nobody knows.
This picture show some views of Mount Achun near Sochi from a tower, the inside of the tower and the forest.
Winter Olympic 2014: hopefully I will have the chance to visit once more the beauty at the Black Ssea. |

Hallo Achim!
Very kind of you to introduice to us the olympic places of Caucasus - the tower and the forests... They say Putin is going to spend 7 billions (I coud not hear of what) on that propaganda event, but it will be good for the locals, no doubt...
