This picture I took on the last morning of 2006... the weather was pretty good a bit cold (-5 C) and a little bit snow which fell couple of days before... so Muscovites met the New 2007 Year with snow, with the winter weather which has to be here during this season.. but because of incredible thaw which still affect on the weather here, in two first days of 2007 the temperature in Moscow became above zero and this snow already melted... It is pity that people who like to skate and ski, can't not enjoy their hobbies during this winter holidays...

Lying by a river bend on the south-western edge of old Moscow, Novodevichy is one of the city's loveliest monasteries and major spiritual centers from centuries back. The red and white crenellated walls and golden domes of Novodevichy Convent make it one of Moscow's most attractive monasteries. Novodevichy, or "New Maidens Convent" in English, was founded by Vasily III in 1524 to commemorate the recapture of Smolensk from the Lithuanians in 1514. The convent is rather like a miniature Kremlin, built as a fortress in the bend of the Moskva River, became an important component of the capital's southern defense belt which consisted of several monasteries and cloisters.

Hi Arthur,
Very nice shot and well balanced composition!
I like it a lot! and snow makes a nice effect!
Happy New Year!

Hi Arthur!
Great photo, I must say. I love the fact that all around is white and only the towers provide the colours.
It's a pity the snow melted so quickly, but at least you had some snow! In Copenhagen there has been no snow at all this winter :(

All the best,
S Novim Godom,
Nuné

Один из самых красивых русских монастырей!
Классический, очень выверенный, спокойный снимок. Великолепно передает настроение и атмосферу. Смотрю и хочется домой:)

всего хорошего в новом году, удачи и здоровья, Карина:)

Hi Arthur,
Your picture seems quite unreal, like sugar candy, with all that white as a cream and the red and golden spots. Well done!

Hi Arthur,

Loved the note (but loved the photo even more.) In the past year I've gotten quite carried away with Russian literature... or really, anything to do with Russia, I really hope to travel there one day. Your photo holds one of the reasons I want to see that intense country... the architecture!!! There is no country that has such a distinct type of architecture, I think it's truly stunning. I adore the way you got the white of the sky/surface to contrast those blacks/reds/yellows. The composition is really well laid out, and the black frame finishes off the image nicely. I read your intro, and you know what just try portraits and other types of photography... the best way to learn is to try! TFS.

Oh and by the way, that photo on your driving website, the one of The Red Square, that is a truly stunning image! One of the best I've ever seen of the landmark. Very well done on that photo as well.

Biance.
