[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This picture, which I took several hours before the New 2007 Year, I would like to devote for upcoming Orthodox Christmas, which will be celebrated in Russia on 7th of January. I think, that this view on the famous Cathedral of Christ the Savior, which considered to be the symbol of Orthodox Religion, and Moskva-Reka (Moscow-River) with the beautiful lights from both sides of the cathedral and festive decorations on the bridges in Moscow city during current winter holidays, fits to this purpose.

About the cathedral in brief:
The Cathedral of Christ the Savior is a great monument to Russian military glory and superb example of Russian architecture. It was opened in 1883, in a memory of Russian victory over Napoleon in 1812. This Cathedral had been under construction for about 40 years (1839-1883), but it was destroyed in one day, in December 5th, 1931 - during the Stalin's time, because communists decided to build "Soviet Palace" for their meetings. The Cathedral was recovered during 1995 - 2000.

Also you can compare the picture with the view on this cathedral from the same spot, but during a day light, which I posted recently on TrekEarth website with my news about unusual thaw in Moscow: Cathedral & Moscow-River.

Arthur,
Happy New Year and Merry Christmas to you!
This is an absolutely beautiful photograph of this cathedral. Well captured night photograph, as all of the spectacular details are beautifully displayed on the building and the light standards. Great choice to use a large f-stop to absorb all that detail. Cheers, Todd

Hello Arthur, this low pov here shows us the lovely golden-copper water. Lovely star effects on the street lights, great sharpness, colours and details.

I really prefer the night shot to the daylight shot.

Very well done and a great composition. Would be great to take a walk by night. Tfs. Yan :)

Arthur,

This is a beautiful night shot where you succeeded at delivering something with the right amount of detail and exposure! I love the original composition where the fantastic cathedral and gate are more part of the background, letting the night image of the river settle in the foreground. I really how small elements in this picture are colorful enough to give it a colorful touch, also! Your gallery alltogether is inspiring, by the way.

Cheers,

Paty
