[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
In 1974, Russia was worried that a possible invasion by neighbouring China, would sever the Trans Siberian Railway. The Baikal Amur Mainline was built about 200 miles / 300 km to the north, of the TSR, as an auxilliary line. It also allowed access to new sources of lumber & minerals. The men who built it suffered many hardships, & this is a monument to their endurance. Tynda, once a small frontier town, midway between Lake Baikal & Khabarovsk, now sevices the B.A.M. railway maintenance. In 2002, Tynda had 40,094 people.

Hello Chris,

You have chosen an excellent POV from which to photograph this statue! It makes it an imposing shot with the elevated hammer and the light catching the facets of the statue. Good sky!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Great POV.

It could be in NG ;)

Hi Chris, so you've been to Russia lately! I like your POV from way down low - and I like this phrase too - monument to their endurance. What a cruel lives they had.
The monument is good, but your POV makes it look even better,
Janice

Hi Chris,
An impressive monument, you chose a perfect POV unless the dull grey tones of the buildings behind the monument a fine contrastful picture due the blue in the sky. A fine posting my friend.

Hello Chris,
I like this artwork!
Elements from cubism adds strength to the statue, shown in this well composed image...
Good point of view, good details on background of this lovely sky!
Greetings,
Pablo -

I guess this is a monument also to the Soviet era, and it's just the kind of working-class-hero design I'd expect. Great POV and good metering and sharpness, that sky is spectacular, and the bland building at the bottom left is a great touch.
Excellent work

Hi Chris
The monument in such surroundings could stop only in Russia. Wasn't it possible to choose different backgrounds? Very realistic monument. They took care even of details:)

Hi Chris. A most impressive composition of this towering statue. Good strength shows through. Most interesting notes. There is a current resurgence in minerals from this part of the world now. TFS. Murray.

I enjoy that feeling of strong composition! It seem to well travell time! The basic shape please me. An industrial aspect more then renaissance of course :)
THe style please me... Angle show it on an excellent dynamic!

A very good POV to capture this impressive - in my eyes typical russian - statue.
We feel as if we have to watch out for the hammer about to fall.
TFS picutre and info.

Hi Chris,
great shot from a super point of view.
The statue has that powerful imposing feel to it.
Excellent work.
Sky

Love the low view point Chris, terrific sky too. The statue really stands out well against the sky.

Your view point really emphasises the meaning in the picture. Very powerful.
