Not only a very good angle on this shot Chris, but I like the upgoing way leading right in this ? Cathedral.. there for your title is well choosen.

Forgive me, for I'm about to go against the flow of critiques here and tell you that I personally don't think this shot works.

I was hooked into this photograph because of the title - there are SO many "Stairway to Heaven" photographs on TrekLens, just about every set of steps, some connected with churches, some with hillsides, some just random anyway, seem to end up with this title. Not criticising that - you gave it the title that occurred to you and that's fine.

I do find though that your composition just doesn't work. You chose to align the right-hand edge of the stairs with your frame, thus skewing every other element in the shot: vertical columns, horizontal lines - even the line of the steps themselves. To me it makes it feel very awkward and unbalanced.

I'm surprised also that even with a polariser, the sky is quite washed out, and the cross atop the cathedral almost disappears into it. Perhaps there was nothing really you could do about it, although a photographer of your calibre should be able to rescue that with PP?

Once again, my apologies if this wasn't the critique you hoped to hear, I know some believe 'if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything' and I usually do just that!

Very interesting pov of this composition from low angle, leading up stairs to the domed shaped roof.

Such colorful contrast of lines in architecture.

I'm not a proffessor i just do pics by intuition and cos i like it..I'm not gonna tell u about angles or anything..simply i don't have any idea bout it:)

For me Russia is one of the most amazing countries of the world - a must to visit for every traveller..
It's beautiful and very interesting..
Biggest country of the world! For me in first top 10 of all!!
However you would try to show the beauty of it ..would be good !
