[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The scene in front of Baikalskoe, a small fishing village, perched on a plateau, overlooking this shallow, swampy bay, on the shores of northern Lake Baikal. In winter, this section freezes over, & it's an easy walk out to the wooden fishing boats.

I had a look at the original image, & the repetitive vertical lines, which I at first thought were a pp error I'd made, are in fact reflections of the clouds, on the far shore. I've burned & dodged this image. Baikalskoe is easily reached by local bus, from the larger town of Severobaikalsk.

Hello Chris! Nice landscape, very nice colours, good high POV, great perspective, excellent exposure. Well done!

Hello Chris,
A devoid landscape when one thinks of population and cities instead of small, quant villages strewn far apart in this region of the world. I like most in this image is that you captured just how remote the area is.
This brings me to ask you a question, "what made you decide to visit this region as it is so remote and devoid of modern luxuries?"
I could find myself easily walking for months when the snows were not present in these areas as the geography of the area is so different and fascinating, but first I would have to read of the history that had allowed this area to be mentioned to begin with in a tour guide's brochure.
An excellent look at the landscape, and good control opf the lighting differences you had encountered.
Have a Great Week Ahead...
Steve

Bonjour Chris.
C’est toujours difficile de représenter un paysage complètement plat et tu t’en es bien sorti en y intègrent le chemin qui donne un peu de relief a la composition.
Les couleurs froides sont très représentatives de cette région, bravo.
Bonne journée.
Urs

Hello Chris,

I love your photography and am pleased to have you as a favourite but, I'm sorry, this is one shot which sadly, does not work for me. I suppose, the point is, its purpose. As an image to show the featureless landscape it does work but for me, there is no focal point, no leading line, no sharp images; I just found my eyes wandering aimlessly around the shot.
I'm so sorry to be so negative, my friend. Please show me what I am missing!

Have a good Sunday,
Bev :-)

Hello,

Grandiose compo, quel beau chemin de terre rouge avec ce beau mblue, ce vert, cette immensité, grandiose.

Bravo et maitié
Nicou

Hi Chris,
I like this wide open view lake view. It gives me a perfect idea of the area and how it is hardly touched by humans. The fresh look of the grass and light gives it that wonderful summer feeling. The place also has a desolate and serene look to it. Great work on controlling the harsh summer light.

Niek

Ciao Chris

Hi Chris,

A beautiful and scenic capture of this desolate area. You've managed the difficult light well and the colors are superb. I learn a lot by reading the comments and critiques of others and your conversation with Bev was interesting. Have a good evening. TFS

Best regards,
Werner

Hi Chris,
Nice simplistic image, the lines going through the FG certainly add interest. I do feel that it could be a tad sharper though, and possibly could do with a quick gamma reduction in the sky to separate it from the sea a bit more. The colours are great here however, and the reflections from the sky certainly show up on the water.

TFS,
Scott.

Hi Chris

Colors, depth and contrast are wonderful
