the first thing i noticed was the lens in your equipment, and i smiled; probably because i know that the canon 70-200 is a stellar performer...

well cropped :) but i love the high shutter speed's results...

The way the little kid is standing with arms and fingers outstreched looking like she is afraid to get wet, the expression on the face and that water splashing away is a capture that you can really be proud.

Love this shot Richard... not just the colors and the sharpness are amazing, but the whole impact of the little girl..."licking" the water... really very well captured!
I also think it's amazing how the water seems to absorb the pink and yellows of the girl's suite.

Oh my Friend of very tiny girls...
Just wait.... Our Sara is 13 and I just have to say .. it hurts when we are no longer "cool" and I still think I'm the coolish one LOL

The way you where able to capture your little one just at the point of contact is really great! ...


BUT I do have to say as a MOM ... YUCK.... what is in that water... sorry... mom issues... (ok and not so cool)

Just excellent! The timing the details and the composition are PERFECT here. I see you splurged for the IS version! It's (you) done outstanding!
Did you partially desaturate the BG? The f/2.8 provided the great blurred BG. Images like this makes TL worth browsing.

Oh Richard, you are going to cost me money. If I could get an image, even half this good I would go out and buy the lens right now. I can’t describe how this image pops off the page to me. The colour and water, the splash .. just everything. This is just so wonderful. Wow.

Perfect DOF and placement of her within the frame. I really like the tight crop so we can have more focus on JUST her and no distracting background.
That is a very colorful outfit! Looks like bubble gum. I think that if you added just a tad bit more saturation and a touch of contrast it would make the colors pop out that much more.
But it is a great picture, and a good idea of the desaturation.

The wide aperture caused a nicely blurred backdrop, the high shutter speed really froze the movement of the water. I'm glad this one turned up on tl's portal, Richard. It's a beauty, with one little nit-pick: the droplet behind her head, I'd clone that out as I think it's a wee bit distracting.
I also like the vibrant colours of her outfit against the, apparently, desaturated backdrop.

Obviously an older shot, Richard, but I'm just seeing it for the first time. Exquisitely timed -- it looks like the water is leaping up to touch that low-handing tongue :) Great clarity and positioning, and the profile view works exceedingly well here. Excellent!
