Another close-up of Alexis.

Taken at a candid moment, we were sitting having a drink in Clarke Quay and she was ok for me just to snap away as and when.

She has lovely eyes, I tried to make them the focus of most of my shots.

The light wasn't great, hence the ISO 640. No flash used - partly because I like the challenge of low-light, partly because I prefer candid shots to posed and largely because I'm too dimwitted to know how to use my flash properly :-)

ISO 640, f2.8, 1/80

Shot in RAW, jpegged, converted to b/w, I think levels adjusted, resized, sharpened.

I like how you isolated the eyes here Richard! and I hate flash on people so you are doing great, don't ruin it by flashing them! HAHA! LOVE the reflection in here one eye, because it draws you in, right at the thirds spot! What nails!! I can't keep them! I have to type too much! HA!

Hi Richard,

a candid shot that pays off. the result is just great. how far/close were you from her?

from her eyes it tells that she was smiling. you are right, she has beautiful eyes. i like the detail of her skin tone & the nappy in her hands. very well done.

Hi Richard,

Hope you don't mind but I tried to give Alexis 2 left eyes to see how that works out.
Lovely shot.

When I look at this I have to smile, although we only see her eyes we see 'happy'. An original pose which I like very much. Very beautiful sparkling eyes! Another great job!!

I really like this
The shallow dof is perfect here -- I like the focus on her eye and her nails.
Great capture of the moment, showing fine rapport

This one I like the most ... till now.

thanks,

She has beautiful eyes indeed:)
I don't really like the crop here - for me the nails in the foreground are a bit distracting...
But the dark tones and grainy texture are really moody.

Iza

Awesome, this is the best one of alex yet!

Like silke said, shallow DOF was perfect, transforming the sliver of background almost into a backdrop, focusing attention on her, where it should be.

Her expression is pricless, this was a great candid.

Hi Richard, Your have honed your portrait skills well. Good equipment and capturing the life in these series. B&W is often the choice to make shots like this very human. Well created and presented. TFS. Murray.

Well, you certainly got here eyes here. :)
The fingernails, napkin and focus depth all work to pull the eye into the eyes, so well done.
Good hand holding again, especially with that great but heavy lens and at the shutter speed and focal length.

ciao Richard..
an excellent capture.. and an excellent model!! eyes speak.. and tell to us about an entire world!! beautiful the crop.. beautiful the contrast!! wonderful quiet expression!! bravo and thanks
ciao Marco

Yeah, I like this one. The eyes are terrific, beautifully placed in the frame. The extremely shallow field of focus works fine although you could probably have boosted the ISO even more and allowed a smaller aperture. As always, very real (lovely) skin textures and detail.

hi Richard

I chose this out of this series, it really shows the expression not through the face but the eyes.

tfs, bill

This one is Best.

Afternoon Richard

This has been a nice relaxed series with Alexis. I agree the eyes are the place to go and you are spot on. They twinkle with mischief.

Nice eye glint and eye direction. The ISO 640 adds a bit of character to the photo. Well seen and captured. TFS. K2
