Now THAT's a boxin photo! Love his intensity Richard...sometimes I make a face like that! LOL! I wonder if it needs to be a little more less leveled...maybe more contrast.... oh lordy...don't be mad..I might try a ws!
Lawdy lawdy...

Hi Richard, A fine action sports shot with ideal POV to include the punching ball in this way. There is a lot of serious agro in his face, he looks to be serious about what he is doing (for others). An interesting note on how the fortunate can assist those with a steeper hill to climb in life. Thanks for both your contributions, photograph & helping others. TFS. Murray.
hi richard.
gritty, raw, intense, powerful.
the concentration on the boxers face had me mesmerised.
nice pp work. b/w has made it 'real'.
i can say no more.
Brian
ciao Richard..
what a kind of strong expression you have taken here!! incredible.. so intense and effective!! great post indeed, many thanks
ciao Marco
Richard,
I got it!! Perhaps you could fly in Starr Johnson or one of his sparring partners from the Hill Country for your buddy to smack around a little.
Really though, I'm not 100% sure of the PP treatment of this. For some reason it seems like a mix between a B&W and a sepia photo.
I think possibly because it is missing some contrast. I can't really say for sure how to regain or create some without trying a workshop.
I do like how you have cropped and adjusted this photo though, I think you got the in-your-face effect that you desired.
Great notes!
This is such a great charity, nice to see someone cares so much about under privileged children.

Nice to see how a boxing shot CAN be done
Great composition, superb timing on this moment
The high ISO and shallow dof are great for a flash-free capture. I think I might have selected bits of the ball to reduce the noise I see there just little
Well done

Great shot here Richard. I love the intensity captured in his face. Awesome detail in this shot and the blur from the speed bag show nice motion. Very nice PP work the bag does look as if it could come through the screen. Very nice work Richard.

Kevin

Fantastic expression!! WOW! And excellent pp work. For beginners like myself it's nice to also see the original. A wonderful foundation! I found your note very interesting. Thanks!! Have a good weekend!
Hi Richard,
I couldn't resist doing a workshop on this boxer photo in photofiltre. His expression is just priceless. I like the boxing poster in the background as well as the blur of the punching bag. I haven't looked at your original yet, but wanted to play with the shot in photofiltre.
Nice shot. Lisa

Hi Richard,
This is a fine boxing shot, of course there are other on TL which post much beter shots in this area of sport. I don't observe excesive noise, nore cut arms, heads or legs, also the face of the boxer has an impressive expression on, very weird you captured that so well :-) Anyway, although I like this posting, I must honestly say I prever the origional, although with a tighter crop (see WS).
Nevertheless a superb "Boxer in action shot", curious what advise you will get from our Boxing photographer expert from Texas :-)
Hans
You must be a professional now that you are into the boxing shots cuzzy ? :-)
Looking at your original, I do like the effect you have arrived at here with your PP work Richard, and your right the punchbag does have that feel that its now coming at you...seeing some others have done workshops, I thought I would try too (two workshops)...hope you like the effects that I have come up with... just for fun!
Thanks for sharing your interesting shot.
Cheers
Dawn.

intense glance indeed, judging by the original shot, you did excellent reframing, minor adjustments, lighting effect, and great sepia conversion

Hi Richard,
Very interesting and well timed capture of both the bag and the facial emotion and tension of the body.
I'm also impressed by the flood of WS this image generated. I guess that means it's very good to bring out that much interest.
My little opinion, of all of them I like Lisa's the best but I've really got no issues with your posting, versus your original. Lisa's brings out the facial expression but, perhaps, at the detriment of the rest of the emotion and tension of the rest of the image, but, for sure, the face is amazingly powerful here, so therefore the slight nod to it. ;0)
Anyway, nice work on this, very good composition and presentation.
TFS,
Wilt
You captured the intense expression well Richard. The tones don't worry me nor does the noise, there is more noise in some of your other shots. STrange that Linda removed the noise and yet adds it to her own shots :). Just cuious as to why you added the ISO, f stop and exposure time to your notes whehn they can be retrieved by viewing more photo info?

Good morning Richard
Superb! isnt this just what a GOOD boxing pic is all about.. exactly what we have all be talking about the last few.... months lol.
Your emphasis on the boxer and his emotions here is so strong that no colour is needed. In fact I am glad you did a desat on this because it brings out the detail more and colour can be quite distracting.
Perfect angle for the shot, clearly showing the boxers emotions, his gloves and of course his intended target. The movement in the ball shows the power and energy expelled and the part of the poster on the wall gives us the feel that he is in some kind of training environment. You got it all here Richard.. just superb! and finished off with excellent notes too.
TFS this training lesson! kind regards Helen

I just noticed this- aside from the nike logo, this shot could have been taken 40 years ago. It's refreshing to see boxing pictures here that don't suck! Nice job!

Stupenda questa foto che riesce
a sottolineare tutta la
grinta che ha un boxer
la rabbia che deve usare...
sei riuscito a far vedere tutto ciò...
Complimenti
