bought my flash meter today :)
i thought the best way to test out the flash meter was to use it to take a photo :P

for this photo, i use one of my big light on the left shooting though an umbrella, metered the flash at f4 iso100
i use my batt operated flash unit as fill from the right with a diffuser, metered the fill flash at f2.8 iso100

shot at f7.1 on the camera cause i didn't want the black background to show up in the image :)
i think the flash meter is not just a great tool for lighting setups...its also quite fun to see what the light is doing :)

auto color correction in PS
clone out some dirt spots(every little bit of dirt shows up under the big lights :P )
USM
no crop

Ah, the good hold (hard) (disclipined) (unforgiving) days. It would take me all day now to set up a shot like this with a film camera and get it right. (And I still wouldn't know that I hadn't gotten it right for three days, till I got the shots back from the lab.) Nice composition. (I might like to see the bulb of the light meter in focus because it sort of draws my eye away from the rest, but that's a small detail.) Great lighting work here. The highlights on the metal parts are glowing perfectly. Nice one. I miss using my light meter. Best, -Hugh

Bonjour,
Décidemment quelle réserve d'appareil !
Bonne journée.

Nice shot!

I cant imagine if i can still play around with my camera if I'd have to use films and not see the picture right after taking it.

My salute to the old time photographers. They're the best.

But thanks to the new technologies, they made photographing nowadays very easy and accessible to almost everybody.

Hi
Those were the days. It was all done with the camera then. Thanks for reminding us. I like the way you have put the camera and film cartons in the background out of focus.

Hi, good close up and studio work . Nice souvenirs of our old camera . Have fun with your new flash meter .
Daniel

Congrats on your new flash meter BK. These are mainly useful for when using lighting setups? I know nothing about them lol.
You're having fun with the pics of these old cameras. Looks nice. Lighting looks very nice, and I like the tilt to it all. It kinda looks like a B&W, with the film canisters adding a punch of color. Another nice one BK...enjoyed it. Thanks.

Hi BK,
Excellent details you've captured here under the bright lights, and yet the colours look very natural and not washed out. Well managed use of the lighting. I like the tilting of the photo to create some interest in the photo. Well done. Cheers, Todd

wonderful DOF I love the blurred film canisters!
Great idea and notes!

Beautiful shot!!!

BK,
I like the shallow DOF and I think it works real well here.
with the subjects being mostly gray and black it could qualify as a "Natural" B&W/selective color shot. I think the angled (diagonal) framing is also very effective. Well done,
Scott

I see I still have a lot to learn about lighting in a studio. I never thought that much metering is needed for a correct exposed photo. The result is surely imnpressive with wonderful lighting and good details. The set up and the slightly angled composition is wonderful. I can't help to wonder if a slightly smaller aperture would have been better. I would have liked to see a little more sharpness.

HAHA! Everytime I see one of your photos of old cameras I remember...I GOTTA GET MINE OUT OF THE DRAWER!!...and take a pic of it. I love old cameras! This one is nice!

... and how I still do use it ;-)
Missed this one, Koh, but it's a great reminiscence not only to the good ol' times but to nowadys as well. My Sekonic's still on heavy use especially metering more than a single light, hihi. And the FE (or is it a FE2?)... should use it again from time to time. A nice and reliable tool.

Hauke
