The latest addition to my boxing theme.

Muhammad Ali quotes:

"To be a great champion you must believe you are the best. If you're not, pretend you are. "

"I am America. I am the part you won't recognize. But get used to me. Black, confident, cocky; my name, not yours; my religion, not yours; my goals, my own; get used to me."

"It's just a job. Grass grows, birds fly, waves pound the sand. I beat people up. "

"Only a man who knows what it is like to be defeated can reach down to the bottom of his soul and come up with the extra ounce of power it takes to win when the match is even."

"Superman don't need no seat belt." [Comment to flight attendant, who replied, 'Superman don't need no airplane, either.']

Shot in RAW, converted, b/w'd, cropped, resized, sharpened, ran through NeatImage. ISO was at 1600.

Nice POV, I like the B&w PP and the dof.

Richard,
The POV is what stands out at me the most here. Of course, the way his feet are pointed outward is also interesting. The shallow DOF is perfect here, makes me wonder how much we have been missing in the Lone Star State.
the superman comeback was the best!
Awesome photo, you sold to that website yet?

Hi Richard,

Common practise, the TITLE usually on top, and foot note at the bottom . . . ha ha ha . . .
Unique presentation.

Thank you for sharing the note

A good example of the simple fact that there are pictures everywhere. Most of us, myself included, don't see them, you did - this is a good example. I don't need to comment on the Tech part of your pictures, there is never a problem in that regard. I perfer to deal with the message as I see it.

Dan

A little grainier and it would be hard to tell this from a frame out of Stanley Kubrick's 1951 documentary, "Day of the Fight". I really like the PJ style here Richard, and I could also see this as something Look or Life magazine would have run in the '50s or '60s. Love the black & white rendering and POV.

Your boxing photos really are a superb series, and although I'm no boxing fan, I'm a fan of great photography, and all the ones you've posted are well-composed, clearly seen and tell a story.

Well done!

- Bob

I think this is the best shot in your boxing theme even though you seem to have forgotten to actually add it :)

It's obvious what this scene is about. To me the photo tells a story. We are looking out of the neutral corner. "Our" guy is catching a quick breath while his opponent is down for the count. The point of view is superb. It's like being ring side, right where you can smell the sweat and occasionally feel it too.

The B/W conversion works great.

Cheers,
Jens
