Polaroids of Singapore (1)
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I first wanted to place this series on my TrekEarth account, but it got rejected since it was HPP...
Well... Anyhow! I made these pictures with my little faithfull LX2, which I actually do not use enough! It really is a wondeful little pocket camera.
On the left picture you see a typical Singapore taxi at the crossroad of South Bridge Road and Coleman Street. This is just behind Funan IT mall. A lot of IT in there and little camera shops, but AROUND the mall you'll find some wonderful shops with quality material.
On the right picture, you see the Asian Civilisations Museum. It's situated in the Empress Building on the left bank of the Singapore River. I took the shot from Boat Quay at the opposite site, while sipping my cappucino ;-).
Technical note:
Both pictures were taken in black and white. I often put my digital to black and white, because you start looking differently at your composition.
The Exif Data is of the left picture, imported in this composition w Exif Pilot.
The shots have been made old in CS3 with 55mm plugins, old photo, ND Grad and gel filters. Also I used the standard pixellation and noise filters and added a polaroid-like frame. |

hello!
i've been to Singapore once and i'm going again this October. this is great, it shows a overview of singapore. have you been to the botanical garden or the zoo? i'm sure you'll get some great photos, it's a wonderful place!

A very fine result, Dennis. Personally, I might have bent the TE rules a bit for this one because you really do show us something of your neck of the world. In any case, I think the Polaroid motif is a clever idea, especially since you still have digital quality. Nitpicking just slightly, I think the left image could be improved with better contrast and/or exposure in your sky -- it appears a bit washed out. Other than that, though, excellent work!
Hello Dennis !
You know why I am only publishing on TL now. It was getting too complicated to work on the three sites. Too often my images were rejected. It was getting really annoying as often the reasons were really unjustified. Anyway. I never regretted my decision. I preferred to concentrate my efforts here . And the gang is cooler too ! More flexibility in our works is allowed. Much more fun.
I like the way you present those souvenirs. They really look like old images with this grainy look . The set up looks like two polaroids left on a glass table.
Well thought and presented. I do not know why the signature on the right picture is blurred although.

Hoi Dennis,
Nee, je moet die platen juist NIET teveel oppoetsen. Ben het dus niet eens met jpinkham. Het moet er ouderwets uitzien, en dat is goed gelukt in deze posting.
De zwart-wit uitstraling spreekt me aan.
groeten,
Joop
I see you've got a couple sets of polaroids here now. I can barely keep up with the TE let alone two...
Ha...
I'll be back
Nice work.
