OK, hands up....novice error today. I shot about 1/2 my shots before it clicked that my ISO setting was stuck on 800, hence the aperture/shutterspeed combo on this shot. Doh!

Still, I thought I'd post it anyway.

The bud/petal things below the main flowers bother me a bit, but aside from drastic pp work I couldn't get rid of them...so there they remain. I think they detract from the main feature, but sadly Mother Nature seems to think that Orchid development is more important than my Treklens life. She may be right.

Shot in RAW, converted, cropped, resized, sharpened and ran through NeatImage as there was a wee bit of noise due to my ISO lunacy.

Wow - Its a brilliant shot, even if you was stuck on a ISO setting on 800, its clear, its sharpt it have a great POV, you have made a very good job, after my opiniun, so from Denmark you will have 10 points. Compliments and TFS.
Jens.

Hi Richard
Spectacular macro, the details are beautiful. I like his clearness and sharp.

Wonderful shot, Richard, I like this yellow orchid so much - and so fresh together with the drops, thanks

Novice error maybe ... I've made it a fair few times, most recently after a killer (I thought) shoot with Susie - and on the Lumix it meant most of the shots were too noisy to use. Disappointment!

Good solid work here, excellent sharpness and depth of field, good detail.

I still like this Richard, dispite the error you think you made! The detail is very nice. Most times a photo program can correct those little faux pas...HAHAHA! It's ok, even the best of us have "stroke" moments!
B-)

Greqat capture, nice color and detail the drops r really beautiful in your flower

I think it's a great shot. I am a sucker for all flowers shots! And orchids can be tough to photograph. Your details and DOF are great. Well done.

Richard,
This is EXACTLY what I did on that Tokyo skyline shot that turned out so flat. I had forgotten to change my ISO from night photography from the night before.
You fared better than I did but maybe because it was a close-up shot instead of a landscape.
I think the use of the soft natural light is nice and the water droplets are good. The shallow DOF is superb! Well done....

Great photo Richard and look at all the true confessions that have resulted lol.
I actually like this a lot ISO aside, the colors, DOF and sharpness are superb.
Like the others, I was teaching this week and forgot to reset from ISO 3200 so needless to say you will not see any of those shots. (evene at the best they are very grainy at that setting)

Hi Richard,

I did several times with wrong ISO setting, and resulted very bad. But you did great with this picture. Excellent compo and sharp orchid. I noticed there are full of orchids at Changi airport, and replaced almost daily.

Beautiful picture my friend.

Tfs,
