[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The Merlion symbol has become well-known through its wide use and has come to be identified with Singapore.

The Merlion is a statue with the head of a lion and the body of a fish. Its name comes from combining mermaid and lion. The merlion was designed by Fraser Brunner for the Singapore Tourism Board in 1964 and was used as its logo up to 1997. The Merlion continues to be its trademark symbol.

Based on the Singapore Tourism Board's publicity campaign, the lion head and fish body of the creature recalls the story of the legendary Sang Nila Utama, who saw a lion while hunting on an island, en route to Malacca. The island eventually became the sea port of Temasek, a precursor to Singapore.

The three shots here were all three from tripod with all the same settings, EXCEPT a different white balance! No colour adjustments in post processing!

Hello Dennis.
Wonder from where you took this picture of the merlion.
From this pov it looks totally different. Is it the one on Sentosa Island? I was up on it, when it was not 100% completed in September 1996. (not all the shops inside where open) On the balcony from its beak there is a wonderful outlook. Have it all on video.
I bought in Singapore a 20 cm high sovenir of it made from Ivore. I will upload a photo of it in your WS.
Thanks for showing this 'tripple'.
Greetings from Jan

Hi Dennis
Good trio of images and choice of colours. Focusing spot on and DOF. Good composition. Good PP work.

Practicing with white balance, eh? Just like you said you would. Good focus in the FG and BG at f/4.5. That means your focal length was short, right? Did you feel the recent earthquakes? TFS. K2

Hello Dennis ! White balance can do great things isn't it ? It's a great idea to begin with and you just did it right. I really like it my friend, thanks !

Mario

Dus dat kan een verschil in white balance doen - moet ook daar dus gaan induiken!
Doe mij maar de rechtse......
Hartstikke goed.
