A bit of a cliched view of Singapore - the Central Business District with the Fullerton Hotel between us and the office buildings.

"Singapore became a self-governing state in 1959 with Yusof bin Ishak its first Yang di-Pertuan Negara and Lee Kuan Yew its first Prime Minister. Following the 1962 Merger Referendum of Singapore, Singapore joined Malaya, along with Sabah and Sarawak, to form the Federation of Malaysia on 16 September 1963, but separated from it two years later after heated ideological conflict between the state's PAP government and the federal Kuala Lumpur government. Singapore officially gained sovereignty on 9 August 1965. Yusof bin Ishak was sworn in as the first President of Singapore and Lee Kuan Yew remained prime minister.

The fledgling nation had to be self-sufficient, and faced problems like mass unemployment, housing shortages, and a dearth of land and natural resources. During Lee Kuan Yew's term as prime minister from 1959 to 1990, his administration attacked widespread unemployment, raised the standard of living, and implemented a large-scale public housing programme. The country's economic infrastructure was developed, the threat of racial tension was curbed, and an independent national defence system, centring around compulsory male military service, was created.

In 1990, Goh Chok Tong succeeded Lee as Prime Minister. During his tenure, the country tackled the impacts of the 1997 Asian financial crisis, the 2003 SARS outbreak, and terrorist threats posed by the Jemaah Islamiyah group after the September 11 attacks.

In 2004, Lee Hsien Loong, the eldest son of Lee Kuan Yew, became the third prime minister. Amongst his more notable decisions is the plan to open two Integrated Resorts (which include legalised casinos) to attract more foreign tourists."

Cool shot.

Hi richard

The predominant blue & black colours go well together. Superb sharpness & reflections. An excellent 'blue hour' shot. Tfs!

Hola Richard:

Espectacular skyline de la ciudad. El tratamiento del RAW muy bueno.

Saludos,
Alfonso.

Hiya Richard

(Hmm cool shot and yet a single smiley? doesn't make much sense to me)

Great shot, good balance in all areas, nice lighting and excellent reflections. Added to which excellent notes.

TFS excellent post.

regards Helen

This looks like a very 'neat' city. Very pretty. I like the low pov, and the reflections are very nice.

Hi Richard
Very good skyline picture in a good colour.
Gr Jos

A REALLY great shot here Richard, kindly observing the thirds rule! The water is reflected SO nice....and photo is sharp, very well balanced, although I would have cropped about a 1/4" inch off the right side, the half-building bothers me, but I am quirky like that! HA!......I need to go take my meds now!
B-)

Richard-

The clarity and colour that you capture so beautifully is amazing to me. Your composition is always interesting.. I think I figured out what is so attractive.. no moving blurred light, flashing around. Beautiful Image. TFS

Wanda

Hi Richard,
You have captured this well, good sharpness and colours with excellent reflections, I am going to have to try some night shots.
Regards Andy

Hi Richard
Just spotted this.
Very nice, the colours are not over saturated.
Have a great day
Gil

And certainly this is what I miss when Im in Europe Richard!

Hi Richard,
What makes this look so good is that you picked the perfect time to do it. A twlight sky with beautiful colors. Alot of people wait until it is pitch black sky. It works, but not near as beautiful as this. Great camera work.

Crisp and blue and well lit. TFS. K2

Is it just me or does using a smaller aperture really do something special for night shots?

I see you used the f22 - and this is your best nighttime shot than your other recent efforts - the exposure is beautifully balanced, there is a total sense of 'realness' (is that a word?) to this.

Nice work!

Rew

Impressive photo Richard, tall strait and black.Love the blue hour (is it an hour so close to the equator) it seems to go very quick here in Brisbane. Using f/22 gives a nice effect on the water.
Nico

Hi Richard,
Cliched it may be but it works for me. I like the blurred reflections and how they contrast with the sharpness of the main subject. Great composition too.
Cheers, John.
:-D tomorrow.

Beautiful late evening shot. Now that I think about it, you had to be quick, as I remember in Singapore sunset is as quick as somebody switching off the light!
Regards,
Tibi

Hi big fellah,
Great crisp image of the skyline of Singapore. The bluish glow on the water looks great unless your equipement handicap you managed the sharpness reasonable well :-)
Outstanding image Richard, I realy should visit this place very soon.

Absolutely superb in every technical fashion.
Well done !

Hi Richard, this view is simply perfect! The light is fantastic! Great dusk image with golden reflections on the silky water.
Composition perfect with enough breathing space all around the sky scrapers bloc.
Sharpness is perfect!
A great quality image.

Cheers :)
