Another wee experiment here, zooming out during exposure.

The Novena Centre near me has this "Velocity" sign and as I was aimlessly wandering around tonight, desperately trying to find something to shoot, it struck me that I could repeat my earlier attempts using this sign as a feature.

I think the "Velocity" things fits with the feeling of speed this effect sometimes gives. This was shot on a fairly busy junction, hence some of the random light trails.

ISO was at 50.

Shot in RAW, jpegged, resized, sharpened. In effect, posted as as shot.

Hi Richard,
confusing shot - I love the colours and the longtime-exposure very much - a good 3D-effect.
Excellent work, thanks and greetings

Hey Richard this is a very good example of zooming. The sign worked particularly well. Very impressed!! I take it you focused at 70mm?
Ally

Hello Richard.
Wow - is the first what I thought. Great effect of your experiment. Fury of lights and 3d feeling.
Definitively something new and fresh.

Hi Richard,
The feeling of speed is very strong in your photo! You did a great work. I specially like the sign Velocity! I will add it to my favorites.
Best,
Nur

Ahh that is SO cool how you got the word velocity and did what you did to this pic! I gotta try this! How do you do this without shaking the tripod? Really nice angles here too!
Linda

Hi Richard,

for a second I was thinking of vertical crop which would inlude only leftmost part of the photo. But aftr making quick WS I realised that landscape orientation works much better. I like your idea showing the speed, reinforced by significant tilt of the shot. Crisp colours, very good sharpness, motion blur simulated ny the zoom combined with the tilt give quite strong effect - aren't we accustomed to this way of showing speed and dynamics on good photos of rallys, bikes or F1 bolids races...? tfs

Hi Riched.
Beautiful night light trails shoot.;
Nice composition and beautiful colour lighting.
Better shoot RAw file than JAPG file.
Well done.

Wow! It is moving! Your vision is amazing. The impact of the words, presented like this is awesome. Now that I know I am not the only one seeing 3D, makes it even better. Great colour, superb presentation and insight.
Wanda

This has worked well Richard, great lighting effects and colours and nice composition.
Cheers, John.

These shots you do are simply amazing. I like the 'vilocity' sign! Beautiful colors. Thanks, Karen

Hello Richard,

Velocity is exactly the right title for this shot! Everything is moving at great speed! How can that be? This is a still photograph! Just amazing!

Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Many thanks for your kind response to 'Remembrance Rose'. I still like the rose touching the border!! :-)

wow what an amazing shot!!! foolishly I have driven home before and this is how everything looked lol

I can see this shot hanging in vilocity building in the main lobby you really should frame it and try and sell it to them :-)

great work again by you :-)
Miranda

Achieved great colors with the zoom. perfect metering - the image is coming right out of the frame.

Neat!

Dan

Hi Richard,
Good creative composition. Usually these sort of pphotos with movement don't do much for me but this, with the notes is very good. TFS. Murray.
PS back in Sing soon.

great effect ,,i tried a similar shoot b4, but this is well balanced overall.
