I took this handheld photo at the Singapore Zoo when I met Richard (Kilted Arab). We had a great day, it was fairly warm and humid - very different from the chill of Tokyo, that I was used to. This isn't the first time a few people have seen this photo, I posted it on a smaller "new" site and I wanted to share it with the people of TL.
Anyway, Richard was a very good host and we went out for lunch and a couple of cokes. He also gave me 2 fine photography books that he had "doubles" of. I appreciate it very much. Here's to my first meeting with someone that I met online. It was very memorable and I hope to meet him again when our paths cross.

Thanks Richard!

Scott

Tech notes: I don't think I did much, maybe a slight levels adjustment and a resize for TL with APS CS3.

Very difficult to fault this one, Scott...I think that lens may be moving to the top of my "wish list"...

The expressions of mother and child are great, sharpness is spot on - and, after initially not liking that pole, it becomes more of a feature when you see the mother's toes curled around it. Quality shot, there are even catchlights in mummy's eyes.

tres belle photo j aime beaucoup. ici on voit pas ca souvent hihi salut bonne journée

Very nice capture! I really like the background colors- they really make the subject pop out more.
Great DOF and details.
Well done POV and note.

Hi Scoot,
Excellent portrait of this mother . Good photo quality . Well detailed and well balanced . I like the attitude of the mother, she seems asking herself what you were doing .

Hi scott
Beautiful monkey portrait shot with a great lighting also good DOF
Well done

Hi Scott,
Did they kept Richard there? Well a fine portrait of mother and child chimp. A shame the pole is in the view at the other hand mother keeps it tight with here foot. Excellent sharpness and perfect lighting of those wonderful monkeys. I'm happy to see you posted again Scott. Take care of Bujin our fabulous Dutch photographer might give you a bad critique and indeed compared with him this is a lousy posting...or should I say a lice one :-)
Hans

NB: apparently we have the same expirience with Richard, a great guy!

Hi Scott, it is good to meet up with other Trek friends. Here I've met up with 5 other Kiwis and 2 Germans, and Pam, Dawn, Sweety and I still get out with our cameras together.
Mama looks so caring for her babe and you show that well. She even has a proud little smile on her face - I like it.
Well done
Janice

This is a really nice little family shot. The expressions on both are great.

Best regards

Hello Scott, this is a very nice shot. Great moment captured there with the baby and you composed it very well. I like the bokeh, tfs Rgds Necip

Scott,
Just for your information.
In the replay “monkey what a beautiful boy you are” I used a translated Dutch expression.
We use expressions to say a lot in a few words. I will explain the meaning of this expression.
You hate your boss, but you need him for a promotion. All he does is wrong in your eyes.
But you please him every day. Telling him how good is. He looks like and behaves as a monkey but you tell him what a beautiful boy he is (just for the promotion) (On TL points)
We have a lot of monkey expressions.
Even when a monkey is dress up with a golden ring it remains a horrible thing
I can continue here but I expect without meaning.

Hi Scott
I realize this is certainly after the fact time wise, but I found this an intriguing photo. At first I thought the focus was a bit off (it was me) because of the bright background, however the more I looked at it, and ignored the bg the excellent detail in your subject was obvious, espcially noting the focal lenght used.
One question on the far right lower cornor is that a vine wrapped around the branch?

I thought you were going to say...here is a photo of Kilted Arab..taken at the Singapore Zoo lol... I can see the likeness...LOL... Joke folks!..

Great for you to meet up with Richard Scott...and your photo is just great, lovely infact, seeing the mother with her little one...maybe that pole is a bit distracting.. but it came in good use for mother to rest her foot against it..

Best wishes
Dawn.

p.s. glad to read you both only drank COKE..LOL...

Hello Scott!

I like a lot this tender capture. Just superb moment seized. And I am very happy to read that you met our colorful friend Richard.

Boy Singapore is so far , and recently , Richard had visit from Hans too (GreenBaron). Great to read you had a fun meeting too.

Treklens is really surprising , in building great relationship between members. Friendship or not, favorites or not, controversial or not, this site is much more than just a gallery site. It is always a pleasure to have another living proof of that .

Keep on the good work ! Am I wrong or your are on your way home ? Despite Singapore is more a detour than on your home if you are heading back to the US ( LOL !)
Cheers!
Robert

Outstanding shot. The figure stands out very well from the background and gives an almost 3D look. Looks like you had your hands full with the tele and the extender. I don't have an "L" lens yet, but it is the future. Again I can't find anything to add to the critiques. Keep shooting.

Hello Scott,
Wahh..what a shot..excellent detail my friend..
Good sharpness, light and pov..Nice bokeh background indeed.Excellent touch my friend..

Hi Scott
This is just to cute. I love the expression on the mom's face, very proud. I like the way the baby is snuggled in mom's arms, it brings the whole image together. The colour, lighting and DOF is just great. A Kodak moment for sure.
Thanks for sharing this special moment.
