Another shot of this guy.

I'd been out for beers and pool with a mate and after the pool we went to watch a local band play in another part of the same bar.

Took the chance to snap a few shots, with their approval - mainly to test the new lens and high ISO settings.

Not much else to say here - it's a b/w portrait of a singer in a local band.

Slight crop, converted to b/w, jpegged, contrast/brightness adjustment, resized, sharpened.

No noise reduction.

ISO 1600, f2.8, 1/60

Hi Richard,

Well that worked out great then.

Lovely moody shot of local singer, the beer did not influence your capacity to take a good picture then!

I REALLY like the lighting on this one! The rim light on his hair makes him 3-D!
superb composition, great moment -- even better than the last

P.S. Spring is on its way here at last!!!

Hi Richard,

excellent moment capturing this singer . . You did great capturing with utilizing ambient light . .
See clearly the highlights on his face . .
I realize that with high ISO, this camera shows the power of having minimum noise . .
I should try capturing this kind of performance . .
Duran Duran is coming to Jakarta on the eight, and let see if I can get the ticket and capture the show . .

Hi Richard,

All I can say is "you nailed this one"!(Is this expression used in Scotland?) Great angle and lighting. I think that black and white is perfectly suited for photos of bands in bars. Don't know why, guess it's the intimate mood it portrays (to me anyway).

I always look forward to your gallery.

tfs, Lisa

Man that high ISO really works for you here Richard....there is a soft halo of light around him which is really nice. My screen here at the hotel is terrible...but I can tell it's a quality shot!Superb!

Moves in to the dreams.

Love the bit of misty atmosphere on this image Richard. Clearly a concert shot.
Wonderful how the light falls on his hair and shoulders from the left back. Great angle.
And... I think you did very well converting this to B/W. Love it!

Cheers,
Anneke

I much prefer when you use your wee ones in portraits, Richard, but that doesn’t stop me from admiring your ability to capture these wonderful portraits under such interesting lighting. You always present us with a mood. With such a high ISO how come there is so little noise? Another sharp interesting presentation.
Warm Regards
Wanda

You've captured him well Richard. The lighting is good how it hits his head on the left and still lightens up this side of his face.
Good shot

well, its fine... other than the fact that, for me, its a tad bit too bright in the dark regions... i'd have gone for a richer, darker toned version :)

i wonder how people (other than me) can take sharp photos at shutters of less than 1/80th ... :)

what makes this image are is closed eyes... it'd have been very static and 'routine' otherwise :)

have a great day richard :)

Hi Richard, Good moody composition of this singer doing his thing. The B&W gives the right atmosphere for this scene. Good work, Murray.
