OK, this was taken at 2.08am after more beers than I care to count, so that's my excuse for any faults ;-)

At the end of a night out with my mate, we ended up in a club in the Clark Quay area of Singapore and an American guest band was playing to the punters. I had a quick word with a bouncer or bar manager and he said it was ok to take some photos.

So I whopped out my big 'un and snapped a few shots.
Most were rubbish, to be honest, but I was fairly pleased with a few, this being one of them.

Lighting was a nightmare - there was some weird strobe thing going on and the band were jumping about all over the place. Heaven knows what they were singing about, couldn't make out a word of it - i'm getting too old for this nonsense :-)

I did hear him shout "rock da house" at one point, hence the title.

ISO 1600, f2.8, 1/320

Shot in RAW, w/b changed, b/w conversion, slight fiddle with contrast/brightness, jpegged, resized, sharpened.

Excellent lighting and superb tones is this great capture.

congrats and thanks,

ps.I've switched off the points system

i must hit the bevvy more often if it means achieving results like this.

now, where did i put that bottle jack daniels and my camera?
this experiment may take a few days but i am willing to do it to improve my art.

superb as usual big guy!
Brian.

Richard,

This photo ROCKS!!! Don't bother telling us about the "rubbish" as the only ones that matter are what you post. My old rule of thumb with film was if I had one shot out of 36 that I absolutely LOVED, it was a good enough for me.

This is awesome with it's pov, the lights, and different textures. Black and white seems to suit the late night band shots for me. With all of the different lighting effects, you timed this perfectly. His mama would want a copy of this!! You need to change your name to "kilted-groupie". :D

Great shot Richard, nice light on his face, but his eyes in shadow, again nice.
Good to have a speed of 1/320 of a sec to play with.

Again you use the high iso and no noise. I am amazed at the detail in the hat. Wow. A masterful portrait, with perfect selection for the camera. Very impressive. Beer doesn’t seem to effect your ability to use your camera. Excellent.
Warm Regards
Wanda
PS what is a punter?

After reading the note I'd have to say you did a great job ( I mean the jumping around part) Maybe it was just you weaving ? I like the angle and the lighting. TFS

Excelent singer cpture; the mood is perfect, as are the light, and the b/w work is fantstic.

Hi Richard
With all those beers under your belt, I take my hat off to you for standing still long enough to get this clear shot. Its perfect. We could have had a duo.

Thanks for your kind words on "FUTURE SINGER".

HAHA! You were caught in a "rap attack" HAHA!...that's what you get for being blotto!! Just bob your head up and down, turn your cap backwards and you'll fit right in! Nice BW shot here, VERY sharp and very nice that you avoided that pesky moire' pattern that could have occured with his plaid hat! Excellent details!

Hello Richard,
I do believe that this is a shot that shows the brilliant composition and exposure, which had carefully executed to make a very good photo under the available light.

Effective result - with his expression giving a very nice impact. Love the details and clarity of this nice black tones.

Regrads,
Ramdan.

In spite of the beers (or maybe because?) you produced a marvelous dramatic b/w shot worthy of a cover!
Cheers
Otto

Hi Richard, You are taking photos in tricky light situations and the results are good. I like this as it is closely cropped and oozes sincerity of the blues or similar. Good addition to your gallery. TFS. Murray.
