Merlion

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
The Merlion is a beautiful hybrid of a lion and a fish. This Merlion is to welcome all visitors to Singapore. Standing tall at 8.6 metres high and weighs as heavy as 70 tonnes, it was designed since 1964. It is originally located at the mouth of the Singapore River. It then settled into its new home here at Merlion Park, located next to One Fullerton, overlooking scenic Marina Bay.
The Singapore Merlion is made of cement fondue, its skin from porcelain plates and eyes from small red teacups.
The history of the merlion goes back in Singapore's ancient times, where Singapore was known as Temasek. A Javanese prince discovered a mystical beast which he later learnt was a lion. Then he named this island 'Singapura' in Sanskrit which means Lion City. The fish tail of the Merlion represents Singapore's earliest beginnings as a fishing village.
Today the Merlion attracts more than one million visitors a year who make the trip to the Merlion Park. There are five official Merlion statues in Singapore. They can be found at :
a. Two at Merlion Park, adjacent to One Fullerton
b. One at Sentosa Island
c. One at Mount Faber &
d. Finally, one at the headquarters of Singapore Tourism Board at Orchard Spring Lane |

hmm... no points at all so far....
Weird... would this mean that your image is perfect, so that nobody has any comment or critique at all???????? ;-)
Naa... I must say that night photography is (to me) one of the most difficult things to do. It's very hard, to get enough light to show something and if you get enough light, to get enough sharpenss.
I'm not sure, but I guess you had no tripod with you when you shot this. Even more difficult!
I think the colors and the merlion are well shown here Alex.
To my personal taste a bit more light would be nice, so that you can just see the contours of the taller buildings, but like I said, it is difficult.
Pictures like this just take a lot of time and a lot of practice... :-) and practice we will, well.. I know I will!
Cheers!!
