Silla Mound Tombs.

Gyeongju was the capital of the ancient kingdom of Silla, a fact to which it owes its present-day prominence. The Silla kingdom arose at the turn of the 1st millennium, and ruled most of the Korean Peninsula from the 7th to the 9th centuries. A vast number of sites from this period remain in the city today. After the kingdom fell, the city gradually declined in importance.

Seen here is one of the mound tombs, of a prominent Silla King. They were cleverly constructed, in such a way that any attempt to excavate by thieves, resulted in the collapse of the structure, with the sole exception of the apex of the structure, where any digging or opening was obvious.

HI Chris,
interesting shot, the colours and the softness in the BG make the shot a little unreal, just like a Computer-game, sorry, hope you don't mind, I like it, but this was my first idea.
Like a created world with this forms.
Thanks and bye

What a tipical constructed underground place Chris.
You know.. they look so much like the German *bunkers*
the Germans build during WW 2 ... wich is know as the Atlantic wall.. we still have plenty inside our dunes
in Holland. Ok.. nice to see the kids outside.. gives the place some innocent touch! TFS and bye
