Another Sri Lankan sunset, but this time it's a desaturated image with a blue hue and looks (to me) like a moonlit shot.
In the foreground is Mr Larksman, the snake charmer making his way up the beach.
I took this shot purposly for his silhouette. The sun's halo can be seen clearly (it's not a coffee stain on a scanned print).
Ok here's the PP bit...
In CS3, RAW image conversion to reduce exposure, darkening the foreground, then desaturated the colour pic and adjusted the hue to give the shot a cool feel - contradictory to the evening's sweaty humidity and 36degC. Levelled the horizon (it was off by ~2degrees) and then cropped the image and added the frame, selecting a blue colour from the image to match the stroked frame.
I hope you like it. |

Bonjour Dai,
Une belle scène nocturne, avec une petite touche particulière sur cette lune qui pourrait faire croire à un tableau.
Amicalement.
Pascalie.

Dai,
Interesting that you got the sun to look like the Van Halen symbol, sorta.
I think this was genius to turn this near-sunset into a total moonrise. Very nice, you could have fooled everyone with your conversion!
