[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A city view of Taipei taken from the outdoor pool area on the top floor of the Shangri-La hotel.

I found Taipei to be a dull city compared to others in Asia. Not as much to see and enjoy as in, say, Hong Kong or Bangkok.

But I liked this view. Hopefully this highlights the sheer scale of Taipei 101, the tallest building in the world. The area surrounding Taipei 101 is clean, modern and fairly vibrant. Elsewhere, as you may be able to tell, the city is quite run down and in need of development.

Taipei 101 owns a multitude of world records...tallest building, fastest lift, goodness know what else. It is also home to this, a massive earthquake dampener.

Ahh! Taipei 101, the tallest building. I love it, I've always wanted to see it. Well, since it was built... Great composition and nice colors/contrast.

You show us here onTL a great city view of Taipei. The Taipei 101 bulding looks impressive on this shot and is supurb sharp against the nice cloudy sky with blue patches visible. I visited this city between 1998 and 2001 and didn't see the skyscraper in it's full glory (it was in that periode under construction). Anyhow, a cristal clear and very nice photo my friend. TFS.

What a crazy looking picture. The building really stands out from the rest of the scene almost like it doesn't belong at all. Very nice capture.

Super image of Taipei!
Tons of detail in the buildings and lots of blue sky. I thinks shots like these are underrated, I probably won't make a link of it in the forum like some village people would but nevertheless, it's a perfect shot, one POV I'd like to copy when I go to Tokyo!

Brilliant and intelligent composition. 101 at the right , the mountains at the left The various levels of housings & buildings in the valley. Well done . The image is very sharp. We can explore the whole shot!

Records are meant to be broken. 101 Tower at 509 m will soon be smashed by Burj Dubai Tower at 800 m currently under construction. Completion estimated in 2008. Amazing (^_^)or Frightening. Anyway it will be spectacular for sure . Quite an elegant tower I must say.

Hi Richard. Excellent sharp and well coloured scene of this big city. There is life there but under wraps more than other places. The problem in part is everyone here is busy making money and saving and usually investing it rather than relaxing! They went from very poor to around the top 5 or so in the world on a per capita basis. Excellent composition. Murray.
