She is a survivor. And she smiles. Again. She may be 6 or 7 years old now.

She is the daughter of one of the 16 members of a tsunami survivor group in Bang Nian, Southern Thailand. I wrote about them in yesterday's post The Tsunami 1.

She was extremely shy and never looked up. Except for at this one moment.

She is such a sweet child with very expressive eyes, and I am so happy that she is smiling again, after such a disaster. This is a nice portrait but the negative space to the left distracted me with it's light tonality, so I took the liberty of doing a ws, to focus all the attention on her face and her story. I hope you don't mind.

Hi Cordelia. To look at the smile, you would never know she has endured and lived through such a catastrophe. However, her eyes show a different expression. Sadness for all the loss and destruction. Thank you so much for sharing this story with us.
