Just a snatch of life fromn a busy Ho Chi Minh street.

I had taken a taxi to a Temple far from the city centre and afterwards I wandered around the streets, taking in the sights, sounds and smells.

This image was pretty typical...narrow, busy, bustling streets with bikes and people everywhere, with the odd curious glance towards the fat white bloke with a camera! :-)

Shot in RAW, converted to jpeg and b/w, played with RGB tones and sepia, cropped slightly, fiddled with broghtness and contrast - then ended up with this. I kinda like the final feel.

Hello Richard! Interesting picture. Cheers!

Hi Richard,
Black and white is the right choice for this image. It gives it a timeless quality that colour would not achieve.
You were right about the "lunatic fringe", I'm getting heaps from Lara....oh well!
Kindest regards my friend,
Pete.

Great capture, well put together and given a certain timelessness by the black and white delivery. It has the sense of a press photo.
Nice work

Hi Richard. Your photo captures much of the busy street so typical of this thriving city. Certainly a mix of all sorts of working people on those many motorbikes. B&W makes it timeless in a sense. Excellent work. That one lady looking at you makes it much more humane. TFS. Murray.

nice moment captured with the ones who watch you
good composition

Hi Richard,

As Rew mention, I thought you are from TIME magz capturing city life and busy electrical wiring along the street . . Looks very old picture when presented in B&W . .
It's similar with several areas in my country . .

Tfs,
Tjutjut

:-)) this afternoon

So many bikes! It's impressive! Bike and trucks... Apparently no cars... We would do something near in our big city too... Favorise less wasting in our transport!
I enjoy that angle!

Love to know what they are thinking, as they look toward you.. probably dont like getting their photo taken I would say...

Great capture of city life in Ho Chi Minh, so different to the life we know here.

This works well in Black and White Richard.

Thanks for sharing.
Dawn.

i like this type of street photos :)
they show a lot on the daily life of the place and its people
the desaturation works well with the busy scene here :)

the impact would be even better if you can find a stationary object for focus and let the background blur with movement using a slow shutter speed :) for cars, 1/60 should be enough to get the sense of movement :)

koh

What a great impression of asian street life Richard, very typical Asian, well seen.
The B&W makes it a bit like the 1960s.(not the best piriod in SE-Asia....).
Thanks from Jan.
