[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
My previous picture was focussing on the deity statue in Ubud. While shooting that one, I was lucky a lady passed by with little sacrifices to get the blessings of the deity. Sitting there as a statue myself, I silently moved my focus away from the statue to the lady with her little ceremony.
In this shot, she just put down the little sacrifices and with flower leaves in between her fingers she's throwing water at the little gift-packages.

A little history on Ubud:
In the 8th Century, a Buddhist priest called Rsi Marhandya came to Bali from Java on pilgrimage with a group of followers. He meditated where the East and West Wos Rivers meet in Campuan and declared the place holy.
Accordingly, a shrine was built and this temple is now known as Pura Gunung Lebah or Pura Campuan on the edge of Ubud.

With the spread of Hindu-Buddhist culture in Bali in the 10th to 12th Centuries, Shivaite holymen established hermitages and teaching monasteries near Ubud. The temple complex at Gunung Kawi and the cave temples at Goa Gajah (east and northeast of Ubud) are undoubtedly the most impressive architectural remains from this period.
By this time, the people of the Ubud area already practiced sophisticated wet rice farming, kept a variety of livestock and employed techniques of stone and woodcarving, metalworking and thatching that are still very much alive. Many of the dances, drama, puppet plays and elaborate rituals and superstitions that animate Ubud culture today originated in these early kingdoms nearby.

I already started a Bali travelogue on TrekEarth, but I also want to share some (different!) pictures on TrekLens - though sometimes from a same burst of shots.

Hi Dennis,
Very colorful and a very good balance between sharpness and softness.
Good DOF and note too.
greetings,
Joop!

Hello Dennis.
This is very beautiful. I like the 'suggestion' of the deity statue. Just out of focus enough to emphasise the lady worshiping. Beautiful light and very well balanced exposure. Very well done.
Best regards, Steve.
