[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Ancient writers in Sri Lanka used Palmyra leaf as a medium to write on. They used a sharp stylus on the leaf to scratch the letters and then applied carbon black on the leaf surface to darken the scratches made by the stylus and bring out the letters. This how the ancient Buddhist scripts were written two millenniums ago and this is how the Sri Lankan history was recorded and preserved.

The one shown here is between 300 to 500 years old, and is a collection of medicinal recipes that an Aruvedic doctor used.

Hi Sunil,
This is beautiful piece of work. Sharp details, and a lovely goldish glow to the leaves. The fact that there a placed amonst brass items (i think) adds to the general colour scheme. Thanks for sharing.
