[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On this climb, rainwater sweeping on the rock surfaces beneath our freezing feet. It was near to zero temperature with the wind shield factor.

We were the last group to reach this summit, at 7.25am, and here you see our team member Hoe already descending on his own, while our 2 girls Eveylyn and Jong were still struggling the way up with the mountain guide below. Along the way, 2 of them almost gave up fighting the cold wind and rain (wet hands & feet), but at long last, everybody reached the summit and achieved the goal after months of training. But no sunrise view for us this time.

Life is a mist at the 4095m summit of Mount Kinabalu? Why do we throw challenges at ourselves once a while? I carried tripod and camera up but did not have chance to use tripod in this strong wind and cold freezing rain early morning, in fact, just a few shots because the lens kept getting wet from the blowing rain.

If you are FIT and no illness, World Heritage site's Mount Kinabalu is a natural wonder for you to visit. From the Park HQ, walking up to base camp takes 5-6 hours on mountain trail, and you take dinner at Laban Rata base camp, then rest for few hours before early morning start at 2.30am to the summit through mostly rocky surfaces to arrive at 6am to catch sunrise, if the weather permits.

Everyday, more than 100 climbers coming from all over the world climb up this summit. When is yours?

Hi Bill,
I am certainly not fit to climb, I think I will just enjoy your trek photos to Mount Kinabalu. Sounds very strenuous but fun. Wonderful atmoshere here with superb rock texture on the f/g and chilly fog from a distance. Way to go Bill. Greetings from Wash D.C.

Hi Bill,

The photo can be beautiful and interesting in foggy day also. I like very much the atmospere here on the Kota Kinabalu. You climb a high mountain! I imagine it was hard. I have never climbed so high. I was even higher in Peru but only with the bus.

warm regards

Another spectacular shot.It is awesone to see the peak surrounded by the mist.
I like the position of the person who is looking down, almost like he is saying here we go again.

Hello Bill,
Great photo. The mountain is majestic, and the cloud (or is it fog?) capture is superb. People gives a great sense of scale.

Hello Bill,
hope everything went fine with your Kinabalu challebge. Such a beautiful sight there. This is a nicce capture. The rock structure and texture is really great. I like the misty morning here, coverin the peak. You created a great perspective and sense of size.
Nicely composed.
They said the last 100m to the peak is the real challenge?
Anhyway thanks for you first response to my periwinkle. Actually I did some pp to that. It was almost 24hours and no reponse. So I thought it was a failure until you wrote. Thanks! you break the wall with a smiley too.

Regards,
Foozu

I love this picture. A rainy/foggy day was very well captured and the people in the mid-ground add a scale to the distance and the mountain. Good DOF!
I also like the placement of the person in the foreground. Using the ‘rule of thirds’ he is place at a ‘PowerPoint’, making it a perfect position. Well done!
