[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hi All,

Still in Hari Raya Mood (Eid ul-Fitr Celebration) in Sabah today, where most of us in Sabah regardless of races & religion still busy attending open house or visiting family & friend and as per me visiting my mentor Rabani at Tamparuli end-up with short photography trip at nearby fisherman village Tanjung Badak Tuaran.

In Tanjung Badak Tuaran under the Sulaman Highway Bridge (the longest bridge in Sabah) there is a Jetty for anglers open 24 hours, where the enterance fee is RM3.00 per entry and for those who want to take Photo it is F.O.C.

Seen in photo my first ever night photography shot, the anglers jetty at the left side, a part of the bridge on right side and the thunderstorm at the far BG.

Since I didn’t bring along my tripod I use the jetty chair as substitute.

Thank you for your kind visit and your critique / comment / workshop / technique is highly welcome and appreciated.

Regards,

Ruslan

Very nice for your first night shot.... Well composed with the storm in the BG, nice slow shutter to get the boat moving slightly and my congratulations to the chair for being a great tripod...

Nice photo

Hai Lan,

Cantiklah lan, the whole scenery was beautiful, without tripod you still manage to take good picture. The lightning spark behind the clouds gave a good BG colour. The light from the bridge, houses, jetty and from the boat provide a good colour composition. Centered colourfull boat as you FG was nice.

Kotobian Tadau Tala'ab do Hari Raya...
Em' ala'ab juga ini gambar punya aura.

I like this shot... it has been executed successfully. I like the ROT placement that was just nice and, an inclusion of sweet dark negative space at the top right as a visual element to ease and balance the frame from being cramped with details.

Color? I like it! The splatting reds created a nice contrast to the cool colors, mainly blue family - beautiful blue hour.

There's something interesting about choosing a nice angle where the tip of the red reflection on the water was touching the upfront wooden pole. And, the... ah!... I think the photo has loads of interesting aura... let the beauties speak for themselves. :)

One thing I am unsure about is the inclusion of the jetty's light at the exact left edge which was partly out of frame... it might not 'hurting' the whole beauty too much but my imaginings without it is quite interesting.

And, there is something I hate about seeing this photo... I wasn't there enjoying the session, which I was supposed to!

Wassalam
Ramdan.

The result for 30 secs is very impressive Ruslan, the cloudy sky looks superbe.

Assalamuallaikum Lan,

Selamat hari Raya Maaf Zahir Batin. Wah.. lamak saya tidak bukak TLS banyak jugak yang missed. Ini shot memang betul2 cantik dengan teknik yang tepat. Saya suka Tones dan presentation yang menarik.

hi Ruslan

Very interesting night exposure of 30s to see this view of the river and the bridge. The boat is really well exposed to show good clarity as FG subject but perhaps if you move to the left by a step to avoid the bright light at left corner, which may also give you more of the bridge to show its curve, with the reflected light on the water nearer to the boat.

I like the sky with some rays coming up for this evening hour.

Hello Ruslan! That's a very impressive shot! The sky is beautiful and the composition is well done. Good technique too, thanks!

Mario

Hi Ruslan,

I think you successfully captured a night photo with the setting you have chosen for your camera. I especially love the light ambience of the lightning striking behind the clouds. Personally, if there is one thing I would edit out from the photo, it would be that tip of the pole near the bottom right. I do find it a little distracting. And I do agree with Bill that showing a little more of the bridge's curves would make the photo even more interesting. Syabas gaman!!

Regards,
Alvin
