[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a male sunbird that I managed to stalk closely one morning during a recent outing where I go to take my egret shots. This was his feeding time and he was flying high up in the tree branches looking for insects to feed on. It gave me such a rush as he only hovers like this for few seconds at best and would land back on the branches each time. I was probably about 6 meters below him and it did not seem to bother him the least as he carried on hovering from branch to branch. The branches on this tree were all dried out and there was no green leaves in sight. So I had to crop out a lot of the twig distractions out.

Lighting was a challenge. I was shooting him against a bright blue sky and had to add in some fill light during PP as the bird was underexposed in the original shot. I wanted to capture the motion blur of the wings and this was the best of the sequence where its beak and eyes were sharp. Any comments always welcome and thanks for dropping by.

regards,

Dilshan

quality photo Dilshan... love the motion of the wings and the focus on the bird... good effort and well deserve points for you my friend... TFS

Hello Dilshan - I cannot see any way to improve this photo! Perfect action and shape of the wings, and excellent composition and color. Even the background of the sky keeps from being a distraction from the main subject. Beautiful.

Wow! Dilshan you are a master! My photo was so bad today that I deleted it. I'll learn one of these days. I'm so impressed with what you've done here. Congratulations!

A great approach (from you) and from bird too, Dilshan, my friend!

The colors are perfect with great sharpness and from a nice POV. The sky gives nice contrast to the colorful bird. The bird in 'motion' brings dynamism into teh shot.

Very well done.

Have a nice weekend.
best regards,
Paras
