Can I take your picture?
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
In front of the governmental buildings in Havana you can have your picture taken. Not to cheap for tourists because you pay with hard currency: the dollar.
There are two steps to get a final picture. You pose and the picture is taken on a piece of photographic paper (!). After development of this piece of paper inside the camera with the chemicals, most of us are familiar with, the picture is takes out of the camera and mounted in front of the lens. (this picture is a negative picture (!)). From this negative picture a new picture is taken to get a positive one. this one is developed and treated with fixation too inside the camera. This is the picture you take home. Washed with water for a few seconds you have to realize that back in your hotel you have to wash it again for some time ... otherwise the black and white picture will turn into some sort of dark, semi colorized piece of paper nobody back home will recognize as a picture with you on it.
I wonder how many people, TL members, equipped with all the digital stuff we use nowadays, understand the work of these old camera man and could copy their work ... ...... |

Mooie plaat Frans,
Tsja. Vooruitgang.
Groeten,
Joop!
