[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
While on vacation in Cuba, I took some pictures on my morning walk on the beach, here's one that was not camera shy. From my research, (I'm not a bird expert) I came up with this info, for you birds lovers out there :

Great Crested Flycatcher:

Habitat : Great-crested Flycatcher is relatively common in a wide variety of open woods, wooded swamps, urban parks and areas with large shade trees.
GEOGRAPHIC RANGE: Great-crested Flycatcher breeds in Eastern North America.
It winters from Mexico to Northern South America, in humid forests, and also in Southern Florida and Cuba.

Bonjour Pierre,
Une belle photo de cet oiseau prise en vacance à Cuba, belle composition avec de belles couleurs et netteté ..Nice shot Pierre..
Michel

Awesome shot - cute bird. Perfect sharpness, composition, POV and DOF. I like the warm colours and framing.

Now that I keep looking more and more at this photo I am realizing how excellent the detail and textures are. I can almost touch everything from the down on the bird's neck, to its little talons, to the bark of the twig it rests on. The composition and framing could not be better, with the twig running at a fairly steep angle through the shot. Excellent shallow depth of field to make it pop out, I can never understand how people can get shots like these of animals, and especially birds (I have failed very miserably at attempting bird photos...maybe one day...). The broken natural lighting gives the shot a dynamic and joyful atmosphere. Good simple frame with the same oranges as in the shot, and the POV is excellent. I would only watch for that little knob of a twig just poking out into the shot at the top right edge, you can probably just clone that out since cropping would minimize the good balance already achieved. Excellent shot, TFS!

Wow, your vacation must have been worth it for this shot alone! The compo is splendid- I'm glad he was such a willing model. And the sharpness is absolutely perfect. I feel like I could reach through my computer screen and feel every feather. I also likes the hints of green in the bg. They add interest to what would otherwise be a monochromatic (though by no means boring!) photo.

Great work!
