[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Dominican duck on his winter vacation :-).

Don't know the species of it but Diane called them ducks with lipstick. Go figure.

There was a whole bunch of them near the main restaurant at the hotel. Strange thing though, the restaurant had duck on the menu one night and the next day, we noticed there were less of them in the pond.

They wouldn't now, would they? Well, such is life :-).

The hotel complex was very nature friendly. Ducks, geese, flamingos all over the place.
It was fantastic.

Update (04-01-07):
Thanks to Don, this duck has been identified as a White-cheeked Pintail
So the myth of a lipstick duck is over.

Very, very beautiful closeup of this lovely duck! Perfect DOF!! This one is very color oriented: it matched it's "lipstick" with its "contact lenses"!!
Well, maybe the missing duck left to "adopt" a new family!!
I've been "adopted" by one of these ducks which I will be posting on Saturday.

Good morning Pierre,

What a lovely capture, beautifully crisp. I love the way the beak is shining in the sunlight it gives a good comparison to the downy feathers. I also like the angle of the shot and the fact that its just the top half of the body. This gives us the chance to look closly at his colouring and the individual feathers. Love Dianes name for it not sure what the latin would be for that though :-)

Expecting to see: Palmtree's..golden beaches..relaxing people and most of all" Swell looking Babes'' in tiny Bikini's and enormous.. well..you know..
But what do we see?????

A great shot of a lovely duck, but I do believe the white part of the head is a bit over exposed.
But... in spite of that I realy do love your composition and blurry background.
How did you get so close??
As soon as I aproach a duck or a swan they just disappear..... and... I'm not all that ugly!??

A very beautiful duck, great sharpness & color & like the background. From my Birds of North America I would say it is a White-cheeked pintail, a native of the West Indies & South America & only seen in southern Florida sometimes. :} Don
