And before you ask, NO! I didn't try that.
I like to have my feet firmly on the ground.
I don't care in being flown around like a kite.

But I guess some people are suicidal enough to try it.
Good for them.

Parasailing
Brian Gaskin the founder of Waterbird created some of the first parasails after experimenting with ex-military parachutes in the late 60's. In 1974 he created the first true parasail which he named "Waterbird". Nearly all commercial parasails in operation today were derived from Brian Gaskin's original "Waterbird" design.

In 1975 he founded his company "Waterbird Parakites" which is still in operation today producing commercial and recreational parasails in the UK.

At the same time Gaskin was creating the "Waterbird", Mark McCulloh of Miami, Fl was designing the first parasail winchboat. The winchboat was patented in 1976 and made its commercial debut in the 80's. Today nearly all commercial operators use winchboats equipped with a PTO (power-take-off) which uses the boats engine to drive a hydraulic winch.

The combination of these two designs ushered in the era of widespread commercial parasailing.

Very nice picture, pierre. Nice colour and details. But I am most interested in the framing. I like transparant framing, but i do not know how you managed to get the parachute come out of the frame. Very stylish. i like it a lot! If you find the time, can you tell me how to do that trick? I have got a new photoshop, the Adobe CS2, but do not know how to use it very well...
Congrats and TFS,
Geert;)
PS: Happy Easter!

What a visually stunning image.
The colours and details are fantastic.
Nice POV and presented. I too love the framing you have done an exceptional job.

Well done, Tfs Tracey

PS i dont blame you, i wouldnt have done it either, way to scary for me, but it looks likes fun.

Beautiful blue & greens! Another great framing, with the parachute appearing to be pulled into the photo! Don

:-) another "blue on blue" image in TL.
I realy like this one. Good compo and a great sunny atmosphere Pierre!
Absolute great frame! As if the parashute realy wants to go.... far!

Cheers,
Anneke

Hi Pierre,
A very funny introduction note to begin with: I wouldn't try it either, I'm like you - feet firmly on the ground!!
Wonderful, beautiful composition. Amazing colors and very smooth texture. Fabulous!!
TFS
Have a nice weekend.

Hi Pierre,

Excellent shot, great look of this beautiful sport, has to have a lot of claw to face this radical sport. I like colors and of the details for on the frame, it was wonderful. I adored his work here.
Congratulations

:)

Good work Pierre. Interesting motive. Good combination of frame and object. Well done. tfs. Stev

Bonjour Pierre,

Peureux! peureux! tu n'as pas honte >:-).
Pierre

I like how the parachute pops out of the frame. What do you think, perhaps a white frame would give more contrast?

I guess I am suicidal because that looks like alot of fun! Great capture beautiful colors and great image! Love the framing. TFS
Christan

Hi Pierre, not something I would attempt either, I did toy with an idea about parachuting many years ago but very briefly. Excellent colours and brilliant framework. TFS, David

Many thanks for your comment on ‘Little Dove II’

Great work Pierre. The colors are great and I love how you've framed it with the sail outside the frame. The blurred frame is unusual. Thank you for explaining how you did it in another post. I can't wait to try it. :) Excellent
Linda

Hi Pierre,
Cool photo. I like how the parasailer is poping out of the picture. I like the different shades of blue. Awsome frame. TFS
Mandie

Nice shot here Pierre! Excellent playing around with the framing! I like how the sail is outside of the frame! I don't like being flown as a kite either...so I keep my feet on the ground too!
Linda
B-)

wohoo the shot is as breathetaking as the one experiencing the ride. and a very very good out of bounds treatment! TFS

Pierre,
Why not? No plane involved, nice warm water beneath you, weight can't be a problem...or though? Was the boat not powerful enough not for your weight; of course it isn't but what about the volume/lenght proportions? Anyhow, gorgeous picture and I must admit a perfect frame!
Hans

:) Later...

Hi Pierre,
This is great. Your framing really makes the viewer part of the picture. Beautiful color combination. TFS Julie

Happy Belated Easter !

be ready for the summer
and great way of using Photoshop

Marco

Hi Pierre, Somehow I missed this photo. but that would have been because I was lying on a sunbed on your lovely beach....
My son wants to try this - but it is also not for me or my husband....
HOWEVER it makes a fantastic picture!!
TFS :) follow tomorrow.
Els

This looks like so much fun! Love it! And the "framing" is truly eye catching. Well done.

Bonjour Pierre.
Splendide composition.
J'aime bien la cadre avec le débordement de la photo.
Jolie lumière et belles couleurs.
Bravo !

Hi Pierre,
Aw, come on, live a little! Great capture; glorious colors, and perfect framing. (Love the wavey signature!)
Reminds me of the one time I tried this, and I'll never forget seeing the curvature of the horizon, seeing turtles under the water, and hearing the utter silence, and feeling ALONE. This boat was but a speck in the water. You'd love it!
Take care,
Karen

Aaaah Bon !

je croyais que tu avais programmer ta minuterie pour un auto-portrait original (^_^).

Excellent timing et surtout très bonne présentation !
Bravo !
Robert

Oh Pierre!
What an amazing photo to frame so perfectly! I loved your note....I am one of those crazy people who would jump at the chance to fly around like a balloon! I have skydived....jumped at 10,000 feet....so yes...a bit crazy but I loved every second of it! Beautifully captured photo and again....the framing is perfection!

Take care,
Bettina Marie =0)
