I've posted shots of this volcano and arch before ... this is a slighty different view and crop.

Volcano Agua taken through Santa Catalina Convent Arch.

Finally on our last day the top of the volcano was not obscured by clouds. This particular street which lead away from the town square, was closed to traffic on Sunday. Just at the bottom left of this shot (in the shadows) was a dad and his three kids with a little musical ensemble. Further down, someone was selling plants in the street, and an artist was sitting on a stool, painting with water color and selling his work. A most peaceful, lovely atmosphere. A small city where you could easily linger for days ... and we did!

Cropped, color and contrast adjusted, sized, and sharpened.

Wonderful view Trudy, great framing with the arch.. What a stunning bit of scenery..

The blue sky looks very pixellated - I think from the file size of 189kbs when you can go to 300 for a better quality rendition of this photo..

Anyway - very nice photo...

Cheers
David

Hi Trudy,
Wonderful capture here.
The frame of the arch creates a beautiful composition.
Lovely colors and light.

TFS and greetings from Netherlands,
Adri

Hi Trudy,

A very good shot love the pov but as whitenight say's the sky is pixellated a little, not that it detracts too much from what is a stunning view well done. PS what does someone that likes Guns 'n' Roses look like, serious question.

Regards
Jon

beautiful POV, good light
first i thought the format was a bit strange but finally it's OK

Hello Trudy,
Not often is Volcano Agua not covered by clouds. What a lovely view, this looks close to Posado Don Rodrigo where I remember staying. Well framed, the blue sky and the interplay of light and shadow gives this more ooopmh appeal. Best regards...Danilo

oh dear I ran out of smileys...

Very nice framing and composition I love the colors
Very well done

One of the things I like about TrekLens is how we can go back to previous photos and think 'how would I present this, now?' It is nice to have the skills - and vision - to present old material in a new way.

This is beautiful. The composition works well, the scale of the mountain and its dominance over the town is shown superbly, while the arch provides a perfect frame for the subject, without distracting or undermining it.

Nice work!

hi Trudy

I like this presentation.

Never mind the little noise [or oversharpen?] on this one, your good POV outweighs it. It seems to me that despite having Nikon 5600 and iso50, you seem to be at ease with landscape shooting to compose this pleasant yellow arch way to frame a pale blue sky and with the mountain view below.

I am impressed with this 2008 capture which shows you were already comfortable with landscape POV selection. I would probably throw you some challenges like - any other possible composition to get symmetry? - because I had not seen this place. But you chose a great scenery and did a good job with it.

tfs, bill

Hi Trudy...excellent composition...great details and tones...

Hi Trudy
You did a great job with this shot, the light, the framing and the volcano all prefectly in focus.
Super results.

Hello Trudy,
I certainly like the view of the towering volcano through the large arch. The lighting of the scene must have been quite tricky to manage, one side is in shade, yet you did not overexpose the sunny side , i do not see that many pixels in the sky well only when i' am nearer my monitor , he he.
Not a bad shot my friend ,
Carol

Hi Trudy,
This is a wonderful view, I like the way you could combine the town's architecture and the huge mountian. Quite a creative POV, nice colours and well handled light and shadow. Beautiful place, majestic volcano. Thanks for the note, too!
Best wishes,
Kristof

Ciao Trudy

Ah .. Bolivia also has Santa Catalina Convent.
Beautiful presentation and the visual arc, as is
if a door that opens and shows the
beauty of the place, the Volcano is amazing!
A great postcard, and scenario
of pure beauty
Greetings

Sergio

Hi Trudy

Missed this one. The yellow ochre wall contrasts nicely against the blue sky. Good sharpness, & superb use of the arch as a framing device, on the bg mountain. I would gaussian blur the sky above the volcano, using no feather, & 3 to 10 pixels. Tfs!

The classic Antigua photo: nicely composed and exposed!

Hi Trudy,

MAGNIFICENT! Bravo!

Fantastic photo, this POV through the arch is very effective and very appealing. Awesome framing! Looks like a fascinating location too. That volcano looks menacing towering over this city. Awesome job - tfs.
