Some time ago, I posted a similar shot taken from this boat. When I look at it now, I realize that a few things could have been done to improve the shot. So I've made some adjustments and improvements to this one!

Lake Atitlan is a beautiful volcanic lake in the highlands of northern Guatemala .. said to be the deepest in Central America at about 340 meters. Panajachel on the north shore is the main hub, to which all major roads lead .. there aren't many:). This town has become very popular with touristos, and was actually nicknamed "Gringo-tenengo" by the locals. I believe in the '60's, it became a popular spot for hippies to congregate! The lake however, is surrounded by many other little villages where the Mayan culture is still prevelant and the people still wear their traditional dress.

Boat travel on the lake is the best and in some cases, the only way to go. Here we were headed across the lake to the village of Santiago. I believe that directly in front of us is Volcano San Pedro.

I cropped this, boosted the contrast, cloned out some dirty spots on the boat, framed and sized. (I drew a blank on an imaginative title today:(

Hi Trudy,

I like the composition you have handled the light well the colours in the bg are subtle, I like the cloud base at the back of the volcano well done.

Jon

I like this compo and the blue&white scheme

thanks,
v

I love this Trudy! #1 the simple blue and white combination is nice, always easy on the eyes! #2 the feeling that many of us have had on the boat, the feeling of the wind, the spray, the speed of the boat! It's a blast! This is really nice and what a view!

Hi Trudy

The clouds on the volcano give the impression that the cone shaped peak is smoking, & about to erupt. The front of the boat adds depth & layering. Maybe I'd try to frame the peak within the rails? Just a thought. Tfs!

HI Trudy:
fantastic capture of the clouds.
original shot
well done
congratulations

Hello Trudy

I like this minimalist view.
The pov is great and the colors are so peaceful.

Lovely composition. I'm dreaming about holidays.......
All the best
Greetings

hi Trudy
like Jon I like this shot everything works well together nice pov good one tfs
regards bryan

Hi Trudy,
I think you found the most interesting POV of this situation, the nose of the boat and the volcano look nice in this composition next to each other. Fine contrast and clarity despite the humid air. Awsome landscape, TFS this scene!
Kind regards,
Kristof

HI Trudy
This is nice depicting the fun of vacation, wind warm weather( will it ever get here?) and the scenery.
Love the use of the boat and ropes.
Nice one again

Ahhhhh, I remember the day well. It was warm (not hot), the beautiful lake was calm and the company was good. Nice memory. (Oh, and its a nice shot too.)-D

very nice POV for this situation, and rope adds some color and interest to the white boat. Nice moment captured heading to the volcano, an "adventurous" feel to it.
Nicely done.
thanks
Robert

Hi Trudy,
Wow, what a view! I hope you took the time to do a spot of sunbathing on the way :P. Superb clarity with this one. I'm dying to get a boat so at least with this photo I can dream, lol. Has quite a 3D impression. Nice work :).

TFS,
Scott.

Hello Trudy! Very sophisticated composition. Original minimalistic capture. Good shot. Well done!

Dear Trudythe scenery looks lovely, personally I would have gone closer to the front of the boat so the volcano is more dominant in the picture.

Hi Trudy,

Great shot of this "simple" composition. Good focus with shadows of the prow in foreground and the volcano with good definition in the background. Superb photo.
Well done.
Elisabete

Ah...I like the unique combination of visual elements and POV here, juxtaposing the point of the prow and the point of the volcano. Fresh nautical blue-white palette with crisp light light in the foreground and hazier atmosphere in the background, with the horizon line nicely accented by the clouds. I just took a brief vacation at my computer:)
