If you know anything at all about Guatemala, it's that the Mayan culture is still very alive there .. moreso than in any of the other Central American countries. It's a very colorful country with all the fantastic fabrics that they weave. We discovered that the dfferent villages were distinguished by the colors they wore .. some were red, some blue, some purple ... and the patterns in the weaving were also indicative of which village they were from.

Of course when you're there, you feel compelled to buy all these beautiful items .. to support the Mayan people of course, but also just because you are drawn to the colors!!

Very little was done to this .. pretty much as it came out fo my camera ... and yes, it really is that bright.

Good Morning Trudy,

Wow, this one comes right out of the gallery, grabs your hand and makes you click on it!

Bright, vibrant colors and nice horizontal lines make a nice composition and you got close to show us the detail and texture of the blankets.

I would have bought some, too!

Have a great week,
Reed

Hello Trudy

Good vibrant colours with excellent sharpness & effective tight framing on the cloth. Nice repetition of patterns. Tfs!

Very bright Trudy and colourful - this one justs lifts itself out of the gallery!!!! Nice close and abstract photo - a little 'soft' focus wise to the right and I think that's because of the very wide aperture of f2.9 so a small DOF. Just interested what the shutter speed was as it doesn't show on the info!

Cheers
David

Hi Tudy,
Very eye-catching colorful capture of these hand weaven fabrics.
Nice vibrant colors adorned with fabulous lighting.
Focusing is good despite the f/2.9 aperture!
Nice vertical presentation in an elegant white frame.
Well done.

Hi Trudy,
Creative and well realized idea to capture this local item of Guatemala. The composition is perfectly sharp, rich in colours and the saturation is great. Clear and bright exposition with proper framing. Original photo, TFS!
Greetings,
Kristof

A nicely pure shot of these colourful fabrics - indeed very distinctive in their designs and hues.

Not sure what your exposure time was, there is either a touch of motion blur or you were a little too close for the focus to properly lock onto the near detail of the fabrics.

Regardless, I really like the simplicity of this shot!

hi trudy,
I had the same experience and feeling in India - suddenly you're surrounded, better, immersed in all these colours, the vibrancy, the depth of these hues are so incredible you just can't take your eyes off them!
I believe you when you say that little was done to the image - I am sure these are the true colours of those fantastic fabrics =)

Hi Trudy,
When I look at the photos I like they are normally ones with strong colours and this one definately fits the bill - the composition is VG with the colourful lines leading into the centre
