Glistening Waters

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
I took this shot on the "Glistening Waters" tour of the Lumious Lagoon in Falmouth, Jamaica. (near Montego)
The lagoon, which is a mix of warm Caribbean seawater and cool fresh water from the Martha Brae River, is the perfect environment for one of the brightest bio-luminencent microorganisims around called pryodinium bahamene.
The microorganisms are harmless and will glow brightly when disturbed. You can see bright flashes underwater as fish swim out of the way and tomorrow I'll post a shot of what the boat's props do!
The coolest thing is that you get to swim in this stuff! I couldn't resist and had to go for a dip which was indescribable. Just imagine your entire body surrounded by the glow in the photo. Easily one of the most memorable swims of my life. BTW, the bottom of the lagoon is um "fluffy" and gross. I'd take something for my feet next time.
