Situated along Balboa Avenue in central Panama City the Vasco Nunez de Balboa historical monument pays tribute to the Spanish explorer-adventurer and first European to glimpse the Pacific Ocean in 1513. He is seen here holding the Spanish flag in his left hand and a sword with his right .The statue overlooks Panama Bay and is surrounded by a variety of well manicured plants and flowers.
I observed lots of huge pelicans nesting in trees in and around this park. I visited in early morning , at a time when the moon was still low and clear thus enabling me to use it as an interesting feature and complement to the statue...

Bonjours Carol,
J'étais dubitatif en regardant la miniature, mais une fois l'image agrandie me voilà très agréablement surpris. Ce fond gris dégradé met magnifiquement en valeur toutes les variations de gris de la statue, ça rend le personnage de pierre presque vivant. Il y a quelque chose d'étrange dans cette image, une ambigüité entre l'usage du N/B et la statue... Cette étrangeté surréaliste est encore soutenue par cette lune, à qui ce héros semble s'adresser.
C'est une très bonne photo.
