Hi Roger,
Don't know why no one's commented on a lot of your photos. This one has 992 views but not a single word! It just makes me really annoyed sometimes. Anyways, the idea with this picture is good with nice exposure, perfect amount of light and beautiful saturation. Nice use of f/5.6 to create that depth of field too.
Here are just a few tips as to what I would do:
- Crop the picture or take it so that your subject follows the rule of thirds; here the rooster is too close to the centre
- When adding frames try to use a main colour from the shot itself, such as the green of the grass or a colour from the rooster's feathers; you can never fail with plain black either
- Finally, try to save your pictures as high a quality as treklens will allow; it is now 300KB so make the most of it!
