My contribution to the Road Sign theme of the second Winter Hunt...

This is the end of the 9th platform in Berchem, where I take the train back home. I thought this was a funny sign, that brings up a few questions: don't they allow people on the train ? Or is the maintenance on the tracks done by aliens ?

Tech talk

Croppity-crop.

Because of the risk of getting jaggies in the cables, I tried a new method for downsizing, suggested by Leon: resized by pushing the resolution from 72 dpi to 1200 dpi, then downsized in 2 steps from 2205 to 800 pixels (doing it in 1 step I still had jaggies). Then put the picture back to 72 dpi.

Boosted saturation to 140.

Added Frank's framing.

Nice comedic shot Frank that fits the brief perfectly. Glad you didn't get jaggies in your cables, heard it can be quite painful :-) Nice capture, well done.

Peter

Cool, we sure know when to post eh? Side by side, mano a mano. Hahaha
Excelent capture, I hope you had Dingo tied up for this one.
well done on this composition.
Glad I live in the outback. Noise, noise, noise in the city.

Mike

It is a funny looking sign Frank. Do enough people even go down there to even notice the sign?

Tsj Frank, can't you see the sign means "no gymnastic excercices allowed beyond this point". If it wasn't for the high voltage it would be perfect for Cirque de Soleil ;-)
Nice compo with the narrow sizing that goes well with the standing beams. The few coloured spots give dimension in this grey-brown world.
Kind regards

haha...good catch there frank.. very very nice photo..the composition is good.. the signboard is very special...haha..well done.

This is really busy Frank and captures the spirit of modern technology. Nice shot, B

That was funny!
But the composition in itself is actually very good. I love all those cables and lines. Great colours too.
Well seen and better captured ;-)
Ana

Great composition Frank, the colours and the sharpness of the picture are also good. A great capture for the SH.

the sign itself is funny:) and your title made me smile too...so u risked yourself to take this shot huh? bumped into anything not human out there?i love your photo, it is a serious journalistic shot with a spunk in it. the high voltage 'pylons and cables' remind me of a coridor to somewhere out of the world..hahha..

Hi Frank,
what a funny sign in the middle of the railroad!! I don't know what it means.. maybe the parking zone for some alien spaceship that is around TL in the last days??
Well seen!!
Marisa

I like those type of trains, we don'have it here at all. I like the wire on the tops, in Europe it is something we see often. Funny little sign! I like that.
Best regards
Guy

Funny picture from the Belgian railways! Good composition, well done! :-D

Very well done for the framing.
This is a good situation here;
Very well done.
Jean Michel

Very well seen. If you move one step down, one step up, the roll in the center of your mouse. You will see that the man is moving in the sign. Is doing some exercises. I like your framing.

Hi Frank,
Very nice photo full of ideas. I know this loco from my sons' railway cards and books, although never met it personally, so unfortunately. Quite good shot in difficult light conditions, a nice composition. Tfs. Regards from Hungary, László

Hi Frank,

very well compsoed and has impact on the viewer (well, at least on me) - you better do not cross the rails! I like the perspective witht he engine framed by the poles. tfs
