[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A week ago today, I met up with Jan and David in the beautiful city of Leuven.
The weather forecast was not that great, though the morning looked promising... So we walked through the city towards the Great Beguinage (Groot Begijnhof), had something to eat, and then it started raining. Our luck... it didn't stop anymore :o§

So we were forced to sit at a pavement café, under a nice thick XXL-umbrella, chatting, enjoying a couple of nice Belgian Beers, and also something I'm not really used to: taking shots of people as they hurriedly walked by the café.

This elder lady is one of my favourites; I liked the way she took every possible precaution to stop her hair from getting wet: she carried a large umbrella, and a plastic hair cover under it ☺^☺. On top of that, she just walked under a large XXL-umbrella of which you can just make out a flap in the top right corner. Nice detail: on that XXL-umbrella was an ad for the famous "Duvel" beer ("Devil").

Tech talk

Quelle fine et humoristique observation!
Jamais trop de précautions pour garder ses cheveux au sec, n'est-ce pas? C'est pas donné, le coiffeur!
Excellent rendu de cette température avec des couleurs qui suggèrent la tristesse de la pluie! La terrasse désertée ajoute à l'atmosphère!

Hoi Frank,
De scherptediepte is opvallend (goed) in deze plaat! Vol humor ook, inderdaad, zoals Jan al schrijft dat zou mijn moeder ook kunnen zijn (geweest). Prachtige blik op het dagelijks leven. Opvallend: je frame :-)

Bonsoir,
une scène de vie quotidienne très agréable à voir, j'aime cette femme qui pour rester coquette préfère par deux fois éviter le risque de mouiller ses cheveux. Contre mauvaise météo, il faut s'adapter.
Les couleurs de son imperméable et de son parapluie rompent la grisaille du jour, très bon angle pour votre prise de vue.

Well seen Frank ! Great focus too , it must have been taken early in the afternoon (^_*). Another beer logo from another cafe that we have a glimpse in the BG. ( Lowenbräu ? )

Funny capture indeed , despite the poor lady does not seem to enjoy the inclement weather.

Nog gezien maar nooit zo humoristisch bekeken !

Nice DoF and colours - the cloudy day seems to emphasize the colours and make them pop. A like the determined way she is holding the umbrella close to her head so that no rain can blow under it and get her head wet. She is surely well protected with such a big brolly.

Ohohoh, wat hadden de heren het zwaar - niet alleen regen, maar ook belgisch bier moeten drinken - ja echt vreselijk.

Frank, het is erg leuk om mensen te fotograferen die hun dagelijkse bezigheden aan het doen zijn. Dit is nou niet bepaald een dametje dat met bier reclame loopt - aan de andere kant, ik loop ook rond met een grote groene Heineken plu.
Ik had even dat stukje achter haar rug weggekropt, dan kun je ook wat meer hoogte krijgen - goed, jullie hebben het dus overleefd.

Thos candid shots are really interesting. They bring out the deeper feelings of people and how they build a protective wall around themselves for protection.

Fijne foto die het einde van onze dag goed weergeeft. De foto geeft wel een knap gevoel van eenzaamheid in de regen. Technisch ziet het er prima uit.
