Een godshuis is een gasthuis dat door de stichter is opgericht ter ere van God. Vaak worden beide woorden als synoniemen gebruikt. Maar de term gasthuis verwijst naar de functie waarvoor het werd opgericht, met name het bieden van kost en inwoning aan armen en bejaarden ; godshuis naar de intentie waarmee de stichter het gasthuis heeft opgericht (in het Frans Maison de Dieu, Hotel de Dieu, Hospice ; Engels Hospice).

De term godshuis (afkomstig van "Gods’ huis") komt ook voor als aanduiding van een voor de eredienst opgericht gebouw, meestal een kerkgebouw

Ohh, this is a beautiful building, shown with superb sharpness and from a nice POV, Fons!

I like the people riding bicycles in a row. the stree gives great contrast to the light colored building.
