Je dirai que oui, tu as réussi ton pari.
Je crois surtout que c'est le grain qui apporte beaucoup à l'ambiance. Par contre, la surexposition à l'arrière me gène.

Bonjour Erik,

L'ambiance est présente, laquelle maintenant? chacun est libre de l'interpréter... J'aime beaucoup l'expression et la composition ici. Je ne suis pas fan de l'overdose de grain mais je trouve que ca rajoute un style a l'atmosphère ici. J'aime surtout la manière d'avoir ordonné, ou coupé le visage....entretenant un certain mystère a mon sens en ne voyant pas tout!
En noir et balnc avec cette forte désaturation, c'est extra, presque nécessaire!

I completely agree with you Erik ;) I am tired of hearing people say that men are more "tough" than women, or that they should not show their emotions, especially those of sadness, vulnerability. The grainy quality of the photo, the black and white, and your expression really do show a man's recoiling into himself, being alone in his fragility or pain. Good close-up point of view that makes this very intimate and I like how you framed and cropped the shot so as to see about half of your face, balancing with the bent arm at the lower left. It makes your expression even more poignant. Only thing that's bugging me a little is the way the very upward angle of the arm looks a little awkward with the position of the head, When you have such an upward line or motion (with the arm, in this case) that is cropped at the top edge, with a large element at the top right, there seems to be a break in the continuity or wholeness of the composition. The viewer's eye cannot make the connection between the arm and head properly right away. Hope that all made sense :P But really great, I love the high contrasts you added that makes this really moody. TFS!

what do we have here today! how many emotions in one half face! so fargile indeed, but from my point of view you look like someone who is walking in the sky ( polish way of saying- means that you are dreaming now and you are in "other world") look very soft and worm! also it is well balanced as well and B&W is just ideal for this kind of mood!
it is realy good picture Erik!
but only one thing what i could say is that it is just a little bit too grainy ( but maybe it is just making it more dreamful...)

A simple yet telling capture, so, to answer your question, I'd say that you have succeeded!

PP work well done, and the noise was a must, too. I wanted to experiment with a Sepia version, check it out as a WS

Je expressie en vooral die kin op je arm geven de beoogde gemoedstoestand weer, Erik... maar het sterke licht op je schouder, dat je in PP nog bewuster hebt uitgelicht, spreekt dat voor mij een beetje tegen... Je arm heeft zo geen contour meer, maar nog wel schaduwen vanwege de plooitjes die naar de rand lopen, en dan plots stoppen. Weird... Zelf zou ik ervoor kiezen dat deel van de foto selectief te verdonkeren.
Maar goed, dit is ook maar de mening van een amateur hé ;o)
