I climbed the wooden watchtower offering a splendid view on the mediaeval town of Bouillon (valley of the Semois river), but the upper platforms were iced. So, without having seen what I wanted, I got down again but before reaching the ground, I discovered this scenery.
Somehow, you don’t always need to reach the top to esteem yourself lucky...
Oh yes, for those who really want to see the view I failed to see, I found it on TrekEarth ;o).

Je suis monté sur le belvédère offrant une vue splendide sur la ville médiévale de Bouillon (vallée de la Semois), mais les étages supérieurs de la tour en bois étaient verglacés. J’ai donc rebroussé chemin sans avoir vu ce que je voulais, mais avant de regagner la terre ferme, j’ai découvert cette vue.
En quelque sorte, il ne faut pas toujours atteindre le sommet pour s’estimer heureux…
Oh oui, si vous voulez vraiment voir la vue que j’ai ratée, je l’ai trouvée sur TrekEarth ;o).

Ik besteeg de houten uitkijktoren die een prachtig uitzicht biedt op het middeleeuwse stadje Bouillon (vallei van de Semois), maar de bovenste verdiepingen van het bouwwerk waren glad door ijs. Dus ben ik onverrichter zake afgedaald, maar voor ik weer op de begane grond was, zag ik dit…
Eigenlijk hoef je net persé de top te bereiken om je gelukkig te voelen…
O ja, voor wie het uitzicht dat ik gemist heb, tóch wil zien: ik vond het op TrekEarth ;o).

Great photo. I love the long shadows of the trees creating a kind of dark mood and the lightned benches breaking it a little. The compo is very good.

Hi Erik,

Very many people looked at that picture and very few people declared opinion. Because he is unusual, and difficult receptible. Not spectacular and not easily digestible. Does not have a message which can be interpreted directly.

c'est une vue original par l'usage du noir et blanc et vous évitez subtilement le piège de la photo touristique. vous avez peut-être raté une vue, mais vous avez trouvé un point de vue intéressant.
