...on moving water, my last contribution before the hunt closes.

No spectacular waterfalls in the vicinity, so I had to settle for a river; Scheldt, here.

I also liked this black-headed gull (Larus ridibundus, kokmeeuw in Dutch) because its coloured head means that spring is in the air... in winter their head turns grey, apart from a small comma-shaped patch behind their ears.

Tech talk

Converted from raw, added 0.2 stops of light.

Croppity-crop.

Downsized & sharpened as usual.

Added Frank's framing.

Nice simplicity in your composition. The water has a nice texture, almost like it's been painted over. My only nit-pick would be to have cropped a bit more on the right, just because I find the format to wide. Other than that, nice presentation: Frank's framing works very well here! TFS!

Very nicely done, Frank. I like the reflection and the trail of water from the movement of its legs. Nice light on the water as well with a touch of colours from the sun going down. Well done!

I agree with the suggestion about the cropping plus, if I might add, the gull could be a little larger on the frame. Generally though, I like the relaxed feeling of the image.

Hi Frank,
This ia a very nice composition. It's very quiet and calm with just that little movement by the gull. The colors are excellent with thta nice reflection.
Very well done.
Luc

Hi Frank,

I like the way you've captured the movement of the gull here!
The water has that wonderful milky texture with a calming feel. Nice natural lighting. I would have prefered a tighter crop, though. :)
Well done!

Great idea for the moving water category in the scavenger hunt. I like the lighting as it clearly shows up the ripples and the water trail from the duck.

Hi Frank,

You did well with this capture. The composition is too weak. Your subject is the Gull, which is captured right including the reflection. Although far away, maybe the crop would be too much to get it in closer. A good effort.

Mike
