My entry for the Scavenger hunt's 'Extreme makeover' theme.

EM.ME: Extreme makeover, made easy.

IMO this was the hardest theme so far. Inspirationwise, that is ;o).

What & whose portrait to use... what to do in postprocessing ? To avoid getting into trouble at home or with friends, I decided to take a picture of an innocent animal... This creature won't dare to complain about that. I'm a lot bigger ;o).

Tech talk

Took a macro shot of a Cross spider in my garden this evening, flash was needed.

Cropped this picture, and played with some filters in MS PictureIt. First I used 'Glowing edges', then 'Emboss'.

Then I selected 'Colours & saturation', adjusted the white balance towards Tungsten and set the saturation level to 400.

Resized for TL, then added signature.

I like this Frank. This category has been a puzzle for me and you have given me some ideas! Thanks! You have transformed this spider into a really nice Halloween image...just put a black light on it and scare the little trick or treaters. Well done...

U heeft er een kristallen spin van gemaakt, mooi gedaan.

I like the spider and the way she look, just like a jewel, but your signature is too large :p

Very nice exprerimental photo Frank! Nice colors!

Dear Frank, I like the composition the space is used very well, totally cool are also the 2 straights from the spiders web. Your postprocessing makes it look like from under a microscope ! Very good work. Yours, Jan

The Glass spider - David Bowie has a good song about (well, quite old song, but still interesting).

I like this effect, I just never could use it, never fit to my shots, but here it is a good choice.

The background is like black leather, and I also like the shine on web. It should be a good macro, because Cross spiders are not very huge ones, I mean they are gigantic for me, but as modells :)

lol, very nice extreme make over of this spider! it looks like it's coming from outer space now...
good shot and pp!

Nice job, Frank, which shows off your creativity! Good contrast and off-centre composition with the two lines on the left of the spider introducing tension.

Like Neige wrote, my first impression was that the spider looked like a jewel. Then I thought that glowing in the dark, it could be radioactive. That's spooky and... just in time for Halloween!

However, the signature bothers me. Its green colour clashes with the image. How about changing it to match the style and colour of the subject? Just a suggestion.
