[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This artwork of the Sint-Jan-Chapel was inspired by the photograph of Marleen Hallaert(Maleentjeh). I was so fascinated by the shadows of the trees on the white chapel. I was also attracted to the very nice proportion of the chapel as it stands proud against the tall trees. I asked the permission of Marleen to do a black and white pencil drawing and she approved.

I did this on a heavy watercolor paper using black, dark warm gray and light warm gray Mars Lumograph pencils. The size is 12.5" x 12.5". It is now framed and is on display at my family room. Some objects were removed from the original photograph. Thank you Marleen!

The original photo of Maleentjeh may be seen here SINT-JIN-CHAPEL

There is nothing special done on the PP Work for this drawing.

PP Work: Adjust levels control; Convert to black and white (desaturate); Adjust gray level adjustment; Crop; Frame; Reduce image size for posting.

Great moody picture.
I love the PP; looks like heavy rain showers.
Trees growing out the frontdoor and these dark graves; wonderful Andre.

Hi Andre,
Very beautiful scene and great pp work.

Fantastic drawing, André! I was told once that it is difficult to draw or paint from another image, because one lacks the depth of the scene. Here, it doesn't show at all. You have succeeded in rendering the place with fidelity, and adding your own personal touch to it. Congratulations!

Superb drawing inspired by Marleen's picture. You do have a lot of talent as an artist. I had a look at Marleen's picture and I am really impressed by what you were able to do just looking at a photograph. Excellent!
