Figures in Urban Landscapes n° 20

| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
Here is another contribution to one of my favorite subjects - people in cities. Regardless of what one may think of this as a photo I felt that it belongs to the series. The feeling of coming up from underground and once again catching a glimpse of the sky and the unmistakeable silhouette of a modern city is always one of joy. I wonder if people earlier may not have had the same sensation when emerging from a deep dark forest into an open landscape with a view across hills and fields. And I am not trying to romantisize the cities - it is just that we are still people and today the cities have become our landscapes. So how do we perceive them?
Technically I added the usual 12% of gaussian noise after resizing anfd general clean-up. And this time I also added a border vaguely resembling Frank's Framing - but it's not. |

I like this one very much. The composition with the sharp modern lines and the tree breaking the urbanism, but mostly the position and look of this man that, to me, seems lost outside the tunnel he came from. Also good choice of adding the noise.

When I am at the bottom, I usually start racing up, but had thought about this being a view of transition between two levels of existence, from the sub-terranean to life in the sun. Nicely composed, the addition of the noise is a interesting touch, inasmuch as most go through great lengths to reduce it! But I like it, the graininess adds a certain ambiance, a dreamy feel of being there, and yet not quite....
Cheers
